Brody Rubin is a special child. The four-year-old boy lives with his three siblings and mom in Griswold, Connecticut. He is a young child who has spent most of his lifetime in the hospital.
His life was difficult from the start. He was born 27 weeks premature. Doctors fought to keep him alive and make him healthy. While he got strong enough to go home, he continued being sick. Brody received a diagnosis which would lead to multiple surgeries and too many doctor's appointments to count. He has something called Chiari malformation type III according to Good Morning America.

This means he has defects in the parts of the cerebellum that regulate balance. He has problems walking -- it causes him pain. It even caused him to need surgery to lessen the pressure in his brain, the National Institute of Health describes.
It takes a lot of medication to keep Brody healthy. This medication has one huge drawback: it makes him extremely sensitive to sunlight. While other kids run and jump and play outdoors, Brody has to stay inside. Even a short amount of exposure to sunlight causes his skin to blister.
The Make-A-Wish Foundation wanted to do something special for Brody. They asked his mother what he wanted more than anything. She told them that Brody would really love to play outside like a regular kid.
That seemed impossible...but the Make-A-Wish Foundation stepped up to make his dream a reality. For his fourth birthday, they created a protective tent that allows him to play outside like any other child. The tent sits in his backyard and contains a ton of toys. Now, Brody can run in the grass just like everyone else.
