Evan Bisnaud is a 10-year-old fourth grader who has discovered an innovative way to comfort and interact with dogs up for adoption at his local animal shelter. What can be more therapeutic for a four-legged friend than reading to him or her?

That was Evan’s idea when he began reading to dogs at his local animal shelter that needed some additional attention and care. Inside Edition heard from Evan, "I know some of these dogs are scared, so I read to them to help them feel comfortable.” It is clear that Evan has found his special talent to help his local shelter dogs. Evan’s reading has engaged and calmed the local shelter dogs in their time of transition.

One video clip shows how an anxious canine curls up in Evan’s lap while he was reading a story. Eventually, the anxious canine fell asleep peacefully in Evan’s lap. The video tugs at the heartstrings of all animal lovers. Evan embarks on this great cause to help these shelter dogs get adopted.

According to the ASPCA, 1.5 million dogs and cats are put down in animal shelters on a yearly basis, volunteering at your local animal shelter and helping these animals in need get adopted is a great way to give back to your community!
