Hard work opens many doors in life. Whether you want to be a black belt in Tae Kwon Do, a graduate of an Ivy League university, or the owner of a world-class restaurant, one needs to work hard and be committed to achieving one's dreams.

In a now-viral news story out of Queensland, Australia, a 7-year-old boy saved up enough to buy a pony. When his parents brought him the animal, its safe to say he was more than just overjoyed.

Sebastian Kent has a love for animals, particularly horses. When Sebastian was 4 years old, he rode a horse at a local farm and fell in love with the beauty and dignity of the creatures. Returning home, Sebastian was determined to save up enough to buy a pony for his family.

According to 9News, Sebastian set out to achieve his dream by selling lemonade and other drinks at a stand near his family’s home. The little stand features an artfully written sign reading “Sebastian and Co. Cold Drink Station.”

In addition to lemonade, Sebastian sells raspberry iced tea, ice coffee, and spring water. Later on, Sebastian included apple juice among the beverages he sold at his business. All of the bottles also have a unique label with Sebastian’s face on them and sell for AU$2. While Sebastian sold most of his drinks at his stand, he also sold them to friends and family at social outings.

Over the course of 2 years, Sebastian saved about AU$3,000 (or roughly US$1,900) for his pony. In addition to funds from his business, Sebastian also got a little bit of help from the Tooth Fairy and monetary gifts given to him on his birthday and Christmas.

Throughout it all, Sebastian’s parents took pride in their pioneering son. Like most parents, the Kents sought to instill values of kindness and hard work in Sebastian, two qualities that were on great display in his quest to save money to buy a pony.

When Sebastian had saved up enough money, his parents bought him a pony with the funds. Filming the reveal, Sebastian has tears of joy in his eyes upon seeing his pony, a beautiful animal with a splendid white coat. Sebastian cannot contain his joy, sobbing as his father scoops him into his arms. When asked what he thinks of the animal, Sebastian shouts that the horse is awesome to his loving parents. Young Sebastian now enjoys the company of his pony, who he named Tom Boy, as the two ride through the fields and meadows near the Kent home.

In the end, Sebastian’s story shows how hard work and dedication can help you achieve your dreams. At only seven years old, Sebastian saved up money to buy Tom Boy, proving for once and for all that anyone can succeed if they go forward with love in their heart.
