Cancer can strike at any age and is equally devastating no matter when it hits. At only 9-years-old, young Bailey Cooper was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma. His family was absolutely devastated by the news but vowed to stay positive for his sake.

Bailey kept a positive outlook throughout his treatments and was even considered in remission just a few months after he was initially diagnosed. He was able to start to live a normal life and even started attending school!

Unfortunately, his family received the news that his cancer had returned just a few months after he had begun living as a normal little boy again. This time, the doctors told them that it was more aggressive than it was in the beginning. He refused to give up and showed the world just how strong he was by fighting through it a second time. His cancer once again went back into remission.

Bailey's family hoped and prayed that this would be the last time that the young man would have to fight this dangerous disease, but despite their positivity, it came back. During the winter of the same year that he had gone into remission for the second time, cancer returned with a vengeance. His doctors tried with all their might, but they weren't for sure that they would be able to help him this time around.

He knew he couldn't stop fighting.

The doctors may not have had much hope for Bailey's future, but he certainly did.

He had also found out that he was going to be a big brother again and desperately wanted to be able to meet his sibling. It may have been this alone that inspired him to keep fighting even though cancer had spread of all of the organs in his body. He knew that he only had to make it just a couple more months to meet his new sister and refused to listen to the doctors' predictions that he may only have a few days to live.

Bailey even named his sister.

During this trying time, his parents asked him what they should name his little sister. He decided that the name Millie would be absolutely perfect and couldn't wait to meet her. Even though he was getting weaker and weaker by the day, he still held on.

As his family prepared for him to pass, they also were able to welcome Millie into the world. Bailey was absolutely delighted and did everything that any good big brother would do. He helped give her baths, sang to her, and even changed some of her dirty diapers.

Bailey did eventually pass on Christmas Eve, but he stayed positive until the end. He knew it was time to go and his parents stayed with him during his transition. While they miss their son dearly, they hold on tight to the memories of the young man who showed the strength to keep holding on for his little sister.

The story of Bailey Cooper proves that there can still be light in the darkest of times. How has a child inspired you? Would this story of hope inspire someone that you love? Be sure to send it their way.
