The iconic band that rose to fame in the 1980s remain in the hearts of millions, and their hit 'Livin' On A Prayer', will forever be an anthem for the working class and their struggle.

When you think of 1980s, you invariably think of Bon Jovi. Although the band has produced 14 studio albums one of their first songs that comes to mind is 'Livin' on a Prayer.' This song was also the band's first number one hit, and it was nominated for a Grammy.

Jon did not like the original version of the song. Sambora, the band's lead guitarist, talked him into reworking the song and trying it again. They changed the bass lines and drum fills, and also added in the use of a talk box. Jon and millions of fans were pleased with the result, and the song went on to become an iconic, highly recognizable hit that resonates deeply with the working class, as detailed here on Songfacts.

"Livin' On A Prayer" was released in 1986 as part of their third album, Slippery When Wet, which included three top ten singles and catapulted the band into worldwide fame. Their next album, New Jersey, broke a record for hard rock by including five top ten singles.

After taking a brief hiatus in 1990 and 1991, the band reformed and continued to tour, and is still touring and releasing songs and albums today.
