Bob Marley's Son Ziggy Honors Mom Rita On 74th Birthday With Sweet Note And Throwback Photo

Ziggy Marley showed his love and appreciation for his mother, Rita Marley, by sharing a moving tribute to her on his social media, as she celebrated her 74th birthday over the weekend.

The 51-year-old Grammy award-winning musician posted a throwback photo of his mom, to celebrate her 74th birthday on July 25. In the close-up, she can be seen smiling and wearing her signature clothing. Ziggy captioned it "Love you mommy. Happy birthday."

The gesture shows how close the pair are and how much he admires her. Birthday wishes also poured in from the rest of the family, her friends, and fans from all over the world.

When Rita was young, she was part of a music group called The Soulettes. It was here she delved deeper into the world of reggae. She later met Bob in her hometown of Kingston, Jamaica.

When they married in 1966, Bob and Rita Marley took the reggae world by storm, until Bob's tragic death in 1981. His legacy lives on through his wife and children.

Rita, who is a talented musician in her own right, celebrated her special day with a virtual party with family and friends, reports The Gleaner. We hope she had a great time despite the celebrations not being the usual kind, and no doubt she has taken some more photos so she can look back at the memories!
