Holly and Bart Emmerson, who live in Canada, had the opportunity to give special care to a unique little cocker spaniel that was found alone near Olive Street, Los Angelas. A friend that lived there made the couple aware of the puppy in need. They decided they would try to have the puppy flown all the way to Vancouver so they could give the little dog a new home. Their friend obliged and had the dog flown straight to them.

When the puppy arrived, Holly and Bart decided to name their new friend Olive. However, Olive had a few problems, as the couple explained in a YouTube video in 2017.

Olive

Olive was a super caring and playful little puppy. Unfortunately, she had cataracts in both eyes and her vision was extremely poor. Still, she romped and played and show so much affection towards her new owners.

They were told that the only way that Olive would be able to see properly again was with surgery. Holly and Bart, who desperately wanted to make little Olive’s life better, agreed to do the surgery.

The Surgery

The couple was understandably anxious about putting their new little friend through the ordeal of surgery but knew that the vet they chose would take the best care of her.

On the day of the surgery, Bart and Holly received the wonderful news that Olive had done marvelous during the surgery and was now ready to go home and heal. They were tearfully joyful and they picked Olive up from the vet and carried her back to their loving home.

Olives New Eyes

Little Olive had never seen the world through such clear and vibrant eyes before. Bart and Holly had a wonderful time watching her see her world in a whole new light. At first, the little black cocker spaniel was timid when checking out her new ability. Eventually, however, Olive became accustomed to her newfound site and was no longer scared of new foreign objects that she had never seen before.

Trouble

Tragically, Olive contracted glaucoma in her eyes only a month after her initial surgery. The disease was very painful for the little dog and Bart and Holly made the incredibly hard choice to surgically remove the dog's eyes, as they explained in their YouTube video. This took away her sight forever but relieved her of all the terrible pain.

Happy Ending

Although Holly, Bart, and Olive went through lots of ups and downs, the little family still ended up winning in the end. They moved to Spain and Olive continued her wonderful new life with Holly and Bart, and the couple continues to care faithfully for their new friend.
