It can sometimes be unnerving to be in the presence of doctors and medical staff in a hospital setting.
Though we know these professionals are present to help us, thoughts of painful procedures or invasive tests are not pleasant.
Evie Hurst is an eight-year-old that found hospitals to be a particularly uncomfortable place. According to Metro, the young girl actually suffers from PTSD due to trauma she faced in the past.
Recently Evie needed a brain scan due to the seizures from which she frequently suffers. And when she was unable to calm herself by any other means, she turned to her love of singing while lying in the hospital bed.

Evie has a condition known as Anophthalmia. The condition makes it difficult for her to keep her calm at times. The condition is made worse by the fact that she was born without eyes and struggles to understand what is happening around her.
Evie was born in China. Her father, Craig, and mother, Katie, adopted Evie when she was four years of age. Evie weighed only eleven pounds at the time of her adoption. Fortunately, she began to gain weight once at home with her new family in Michigan.
Evie frequently suffers from panic attacks and it is hard to calm her down once in this state. But whenever Katie begins to sing to her daughter, Evie grows calmer. The couple soon learned their daughter possessed a talent for singing. Craig and Katie enlisted the help of a music therapist who remains at Evie's side and plays the guitar when she is in stressful situations.
Evie was feeling really anxious while awaiting the brain scan she needed. When nothing else calmed Evie, Katie asked if her music therapist could be with the young girl. Once in the room, the music therapist suggested Evie comfort herself by singing her favorite tunes.
Evie began to relax as soon as she began to sing. Not long after, she was calm enough for the scan to take place. The love Evie possesses for music and singing is obvious. Not only does the sound of her own singing voice bring her joy, but it also allows her to channel the nervous energy that sometimes disrupts her life.
Little Evie serves as a reminder to us all that our worst fears can always be conquered.
