Blake Shelton Puts Music In 'Backseat' To Focus On New Family With Gwen Stefani

Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton are one of Hollywood's most adorable couples. Ever since the beginning of their romance in 2015 when they were both coaches on "The Voice," to their frequent social media posts about each other where they often declare their love for one another, the couple has shared an incredibly sweet high-profile romance for over seven years. 

After dating for over five years, during which both would frequently gush about the other during interviews and on social media, it became a hot topic about whether they'd ever get married, with the couple frequently having to field questions about any rumored engagements. Then in  October 2021, Shelton proposed to Stefani inside a chapel that he'd built himself on his Oklahoma ranch. The news spread that the couple was finally engaged, with Shelton writing on his Instagram post that Stefani saved his 2020.

In July 2021, the couple had their gorgeous wedding at Shelton's Oklahoma ranch, which was officiated by none other than Carson Daly, the host of "The Voice." Since then, the couple has been living in wedded bliss, and they've even occasionally performed together while introducing the other as their husband or wife.

After celebrating their first wedding anniversary, Shelton revealed that instead of focusing on his country music career, he is focusing on his family. Stefani has three children, 16-year-old Kingston, 14-year-old Zuma, and 8-year-old Apollo- which Shelton also admitted is a large focus of his. The star revealed that he loves his career, but he has entered a new phase of his life that looks different than any other phase in his life. 

In an interview with Entertainment Tonight in 2022, the award-winning country star shed light on his new life with his wife and music star, Stefani. The husband shared that he loves his music career, but some things are more important than work. 

"Look, I love music and I love ‘The Voice.’ I love all the cool things I get to do with my job, but those things all take a backseat now to Gwen and the kids and it’s just a new phase of my life," Shelton said. He admitted that he is fortunate enough to have a record label that allows him to work at his own pace and in his own creative time. "I’m having fun putting out songs when I feel like it and luckily the record label allows me to do that," Shelton admitted. "They always support it when I do it and my stupid ideas of doing a '90s country video – they're always on board and because of that, we have a 'God's Country' once in a while or a 'Happy Anywhere,'" he added. 

The country star also shared that the label has always been supportive. "I just go, 'Hey, I want to do this. Will you guys help me?' and they’ll jump on board and we've had some big records that way. Hopefully, this will be another one."

During the interview, the star admitted he never saw his life taking the remarkable turn that it has. If he had to guess where his life would end up, he didn’t foresee Stefani in his big picture before meeting her.

"I would have probably said, 'Are you talking about that girl that holds up the orange in her video?' I never understood until now that she's from Orange County," he admitted. 

“My entire life of knowing who Gwen Stefani even was was 'Is that the girl that holds the orange up in the video? Oh my god, she's so hot, but why is she obsessed with this freaking orange, you know?'" he said jokingly. 

Both had been married to other people for some time, and the pair now have found their long love at last. Despite each of their experiences with heartbreak, the couple found love in one another and are now happier than ever. In an interview for Billboard shortly after they started dating, Shelton shared exactly how he felt about Stefani. "Next thing I know, I wake up and she's all I care about, and I'm ­wondering if she feels the same about me," Shelton said. "Gwen saved my life."

In an interview with Harper’s Bazaar in 2016, Stefani shared that having both parties go through similar hardships in their past loves- helped their future together immensely. "It went from horrible to, like, hopeful and, like, 'Wow, God, you just don't know what's gonna happen next," Stefani said. 

While accepting a huge award, the People’s Choice Award for Fashion Icon in 2019, Stefani also gushed about her love for Shelton. Letting the whole world know that he was her muse and a large source of the star's inspiration. 

“Blake Shelton, look. Icon wow, this is hard to digest,” Stefani said as she began her acceptance speech. She went on to say, “You inspire me all the time I love you, Blake Shelton. You’re a babe.”
