It is heartbreaking when animals are left behind and cannot get the care they deserve. A heartwarming story of the bond between two abandoned kittens validates the hard work of the many volunteers across the country who serve as foster parents to animals waiting to find their forever homes.

When a pair of starving kittens were found crying near a dumpster in Las Vegas, they were quickly placed with a foster mom to help nurse them back to health. In addition to being malnourished, the kittens also had eye infections. After weeks of round-the-clock care, the male and female kittens were on the mend and ready to be placed in permanent homes.

Around this time, the foster volunteer brought home a female calico kitten who had been living in a shelter but needed lots of care. Although the calico kitty made rapid health improvements, she craved constant attention, sometimes even more than her loving foster mom could provide. That is when she got the idea to put all of her foster kittens together to see what would happen.

To her amazement, the lonely calico instantly bonded with the female kitten she had rescued from the dumpster. The female kitties were inseparable, and the calico's lonely cries quickly ended. In fact, they got along so well, when the time came for adoptions, the decision was made to adopt the male kitten separately and keep the two female kittens together because of how dependent they were on one another.

Although their lives followed a somewhat unpredictable path, it is good to know that the feline foster sisters found their way to each other with the help of the hard-working volunteers committed to making sure all animals have a safe and loving home.
