Bindi Irwin Shares Emotional ‘Appreciation Post’ For Her Fiancé, Mom, And Brother

The Australian conservationist just got engaged to her long-time boyfriend Chandler Powell. She posted a sweet message directed towards him, her mom Terri Irwin, and brother Robert Irwin to let them know how much she appreciates their presence in her life. 

Speaking with Entertainment Tonight, Bindi says that she and Chandler are eager to be married and that the ceremony will come sometime next year. Bindi also revealed the location of their wedding saying:

"For me, the most important thing is getting married here at Australia Zoo because this is where I feel closest to dad."

Chandler and Bindi met at Australia Zoo when Bindi gave her future husband a tour of the grounds.

Bindi recently shared a photo of herself and her fiance along with her mother and brother. Bindi wrote alongside the photo:

"Appreciation Post: My fiancé, mama, and brother. My everything. I’m in constant awe of their strength & kindness, their ability to create such positive change on the planet. They inspire me to believe in the goodness of the world and to reach for the stars, always."

Bindi's father, Steve Irwin, died tragically in 2006 while filming a documentary on ocean life. She feels that the best way to honor him is to focus on family at the wedding.

To honor Steve, Bindi’s younger brother, Robert, will walk her down the aisle in Steve’s place. Bindi told ET, "Ever since Dad passed away as a little girl you always think about your wedding day and I'm always so grateful that Robert is there and that he is such a big part of my life." Bindi added:

"He's always stepped up and been the one to give me a hug when I needed and encourage me forward in life...I think that is what Dad would've wanted as well." 

Bindi’s mom, Terri, will also play an important role at the wedding. Throughout her childhood and into her adult years, Bindi and Terri have had an unshakeable bond as both continue to help animals at the Australia Zoo. A strong tradition at most weddings involves a dance with the bride and her father. With Steve gone, Terri will fill in at the father-daughter dance.
