It's Bindi Sue Irwin's special day today. The wildlife conservationist, Dancing with the Stars winner, and wife of Chandler Powell has accomplished plenty for someone who's just in her early twenties.
As she turns 22 today, Bindi took to social media to post a throwback video featuring her late dad, Steve Irwin.
The video is a compilation of footage from Bindi's early life with her dad, Steve, and her mom, Terri. It also features sweet commentary from her late father, who describes the happiness he felt at the birth of his daughter.
"The most incredible wildlife encounter of my life was the birth of my daughter,” Steve Irwin says at the beginning of the heartfelt video.
The 22-year-old praised both her parents in the post's caption, writing, "I will forever be grateful for their unconditional love and encouragement to follow my dreams." She added that she "chose" the t"wo most compassionate, dedicated, and loving people in the world" to be her mother and father.

According to Biography, Bindi Sue Irwin was born on July 24, 1998, in Buderim, Australia. She grew up at the Australia Zoo. Irwin also appeared on her father's wildlife program, The Crocodile Hunter, during her early years.
After her father's death in 2006, Irwin launched her own show, Bindi: The Jungle Girl. She also published a fictional book series for young readers in 2011 and went on to claim first place in season 21 of the competition series Dancing With The Stars in 2015. In 2018 she joined her family for a new reality show, Crikey! It's the Irwins.
This is Bindi's first birthday as a married woman. The newlywed said in June that she has decided to keep her famous last name for a personal reason.
"I’ve kept 'Bindi Irwin,'" she told ET's Lauren Zima ahead of their Animal Planet special, Crikey! It’s the Irwins: Life in Lockdown. "I think that for me personally, after dad [Steve Irwin] passed away it was really important for me to feel close to him, and having his last name means so much to me."
Her newlywed husband, Chandler Powell, took to his own Instagram page today to wish Bindi a happy birthday for the first time as his wife.
"This year has been nothing short of epic and you have handled everything thrown our way with courage and grace," Powell wrote. "You inspire me to be a better person every day with how much love you have to give."
The 23-year-old admitted that Bindi inspired him to "be a better person" and has made his world a "better place."
"My best friend, my wife, my everything. I love you."
The couple got engaged exactly a year ago on Bindi's 21st birthday. "Chandler had set it all up with Rob so he'd be there taking pictures, but I had no idea," she said in an interview with Good Morning America.
"So I'm there crying, hugging Chandler, and all of a sudden Robert bursts through the bushes and I'm like a fainting goat, I just die. So it was the most beautiful and most terrifying moment of my life."
Bindi first appeared in front of the cameras when she was only a few weeks old. Her name was even inspired by her family's animals, 'Bindi' coming from one of her dad's favorite crocodiles and her middle name 'Sue' from a late family dog named Sui.
"Sui protected Bindi for six years — it was so funny — no-one was allowed to muck with Bindi whilst Sui was guarding her," wrote Steve in a recount of Sui. "Then Bindi would put bows in her hair and play Barbies with her, we lost count how many times Bindi fell asleep on top of a very, very patient Sui. She was also Bob's first animal love. We'll miss you mate."
For Steve's birthday back in February, posted a picture to her Instagram that shows her father holding a porcupine as well as herself as a young girl smiling right next to him. Alongside this sweet picture, Bindi also shared some heartfelt words addressed to her late father letting him know how much he still means to her.
“Dad, Today is your birthday, I had an extra strong cup of tea just how you liked it. I hugged Mum for you and told her how much we love her. Robert and I went on a hike through the mountains you cherished. I watched one of your documentaries with Chandler and shared stories about you. I walked through your office in the zoo and smiled at our old family photographs”, Bindi captioned her post. “Today and every day I miss you and love you beyond description. You’re always with me. ❤️”
Join us in wishing Bindi a very happy birthday and be sure to pass this along to your friends and family, especially if they are fans of the Irwins.
