Billy Joel Joins Jimmy Fallon In An Incredible Duet Of 'The Lion Sleeps Tonight'

Jimmy Fallon recently hosted Billy Joel on his late-night talk show. Unbeknownst to Billy Joel, Jimmy had a secret plan to get Billy to sing a duo with him. Jimmy buttered him up with compliments and then told Billy that he had always wanted to sing with him. Jimmy was overwhelmed with excitement when Billy Joel agreed to sing with him. He already had plan in place to use an app, Loopy HD, on his iPad that would harmonize their voices. Jimmy whipped out two microphones and the two agreed to sing the hit, "Lion Sleeps Tonight."

Billy starts off asking what key they will be singing in. The look on Jimmy's face in the video shows he knows nothing about singing notes. So, the band throws out a couple of keys and Jimmy picks one and starts singing.
"A-weema-weh, a-weema-weh, a-weema-weh, a-weema-weh."
They play the app to see how it sounds and then Billy sings the same line to see how they harmonize. They listen in amazement as the app plays back their harmonized voices. Jimmy and Billy continue to play with the harmony in different singing notes. Then, Jimmy belts out the next line.
"In the jungle, the mighty jungle, the lion sleeps tonight. In the jungle, the quiet jungle, the lion sleeps tonight."
As they merge their voices into a much-surprised melodic duo, the audience listens in amazement. The app is able to play their own voices in the background as they sing the lyrics in perfect harmony. Billy belts out the next verse as only he can do.
"Near the village, the peaceful village, the lion sleeps tonight. Near the village, the quiet village, the lion sleeps tonight."
They keep taking turns until they get to the last line. Who would have imagined that these two could sound so good singing together. They belted out the last line.
"Hush my darling. Don't fear my darling. The lion sleeps tonight. Hush my darling. Don't fear my darling. The lion sleeps tonight."
We're not even sure if they needed the app. Billy Joel, of course is amazing. And, Jimmy Fallon certainly did himself justice with his singing voice. These two amazing talents managed to pull off an extraordinary rendition of "The Lion Sleeps Tonight."
