Bigi Jackson Makes Rare Appearance With Brother Prince at Their Late Father Michael Jackson’s Biopic Premiere

There has been a lot of anticipation surrounding “Michael,” the upcoming biopic that promises to revisit not just the performances that defined Michael Jackson’s career, but also the life behind them. The Lionsgate film is expected to take a closer look at his early solo years, offering a more personal lens on the man behind the global phenomenon. At the center of that story is Jaafar Jackson, the late singer’s nephew, who takes on the responsibility of portraying one of the most recognizable figures in music history.
For Jaafar, stepping into the role was not something he had planned. “I never dreamed to be an actor or even thought of playing him,” he shared in a behind-the-scenes video, acknowledging how unexpected the opportunity felt at first. But what followed was a process that required far more than simply learning the moves or mimicking the voice.
The role demanded a deeper understanding of Michael as a person, something that carried both emotional weight and expectation. The film itself is being developed with the involvement of the Michael Jackson estate, with co-executors John Branca and John McClain attached to the project.
While anticipation continues to build, not everyone in the family has been visibly present in promoting it, with Paris Jackson notably stepping back from recent appearances tied to the film. Still, the spotlight remains firmly on how this story will be told and whether it can capture the complexity of a figure whose influence continues to shape music and culture decades later.

As the film begins to take center stage, a quieter but equally meaningful moment unfolded in Berlin. Bigi “Blanket” Jackson made a rare public appearance at the premiere of “Michael” in April 2026, drawing attention not because of what he said, but because of the simple fact that he showed up. Now 24, Bigi has largely stayed out of the spotlight, making each appearance feel deliberate.
He was joined by his older brother Prince Jackson, 29, and their cousin Jaafar, bringing together three members connected to Jackson’s legacy in one moment. Their presence alone carried weight, but the details made it feel personal. Both Bigi and Prince wore armbands as part of their look, a subtle tribute to one of their father’s most recognizable style elements.
For Michael, the armband symbolized his support for children in need, and in this case, it featured an image of his feet captured mid-dance, a quiet nod to the movement that defined him.
The appearance also marked Bigi’s first public outing since March 2024, when he attended a preview night of “MJ: The Musical” in London alongside Prince and their sister Paris. While Paris has chosen to step back from events surrounding the biopic, Bigi’s decision to attend felt like a quiet show of support. Still, as much as the night belonged to the family, it ultimately pointed back to the performance at the center of it all, and the responsibility that came with it. Jafaar said about playing his uncle in the biopic:
“Embodying Michael, I really had to earn the role and prove to the filmmakers that I was capable of becoming Michael. Essentially, it was starting at the roots and finding the authenticity.”
