After more than four decades on daytime television, Beth Maitland has another reason to celebrate her long-running career on "The Young and the Restless."

The actress, 68, won Outstanding Supporting Performance in a Daytime Drama Series at the Daytime Emmy Awards on Friday, Oct. 30, for her portrayal of Traci Abbott. The recognition marks her second Daytime Emmy, coming 41 years after her first win.

Maitland has played Traci Abbott on and off since 1982, becoming a familiar face to generations of viewers who have followed the Abbott family through the show's many storylines. Her latest win also highlights the longevity of her work and the close-knit community she has built over her years in daytime television.

She was among five nominees in the category, alongside Linsey Godfrey of "Days of Our Lives," Camryn Grimes of "The Young and the Restless," Trisha Mann-Grant of "Beyond the Gates," and Amanda Setton of "General Hospital."

Each nominee brought a different chapter of daytime television to the category. Godfrey, who has played Sarah Horton on "Days of Our Lives" since 2018, previously portrayed Caroline Spencer on "The Bold and the Beautiful." She marked her nomination on Instagram, saying she was "truly honored" and congratulating her fellow nominees.

Grimes, who plays Mariah Copeland on "The Young and the Restless," already has two Daytime Emmy wins, from 2000 and 2018. Speaking to Soap Opera Digest, she admitted that the latest nomination caught her off guard.

"I didn't even consider myself in contention in any capacity, so it just wasn't on my radar," she said.

For the remaining nominees, the recognition also marked important career milestones, with one celebrating a first nomination and another marking a new series' mark on daytime television.

Mann-Grant earned her first Daytime Emmy nomination for playing Leslie Thomas on "Beyond the Gates," which premiered in February 2025. The series received 15 nominations overall, marking a strong showing for the relatively new daytime drama.

Setton, meanwhile, received her first Daytime Emmy nomination for her portrayal of Brook Lynn Quartermaine on "General Hospital," a role she has played since 2019.

The nominations reflected the range of talent across daytime television, from established performers to actors receiving their first major recognition. But for Maitland, the evening carried added significance: returning to the Emmy stage more than four decades after her first victory.

When she accepted her award, the actress became visibly emotional as she looked back on her journey and the people who had supported her along the way.

"I was equally as gobsmacked back then as a young actress, and I can't tell you how meaningful it is to be [here]," she said. "There's a lot of talk about the community that is daytime, and they have embraced me for four-and-a-half decades."

Maitland thanked her castmates and the show's writers, past and present, before recognizing her fellow nominees and peers.

"Every one of you a winner, every one of you a part of the contribution daytime makes in a world gone mad, offering just a few minutes of relief — to laugh, to cry and to celebrate," she said.

"I am so honored, and I am so grateful," she concluded. "Thank you all very much."
