Losing a parent is a tragic experience that unfortunately, most people will go through at some point in their life. It is especially hard when that parent goes through a heart-wrenching battle with their health before passing on.

That hardship is exceptionally amplified when parts of your parent's struggle are broadcast on national television. For Lyssa Chapman, watching her stepmother battle with cancer and eventually losing her to it, can be seen on the reality series, “Dog’s Most Wanted.”

For the first time since her mother Beth Chapman passed away from stage 4 lunch cancer at just 51 years old, Beth’s stepdaughter, Lyssa, shared the final text she sent to her ailing stepmom. She shares that she keeps a screenshot of the text and looks at it frequently, remembering all of her wonderful memories of her stepmom and the love that they had for each other. The text read, “heading into the store let me know if there’s anything else that I can get for you but you can think up see you soon.” This was sent by Lyssa to Beth on June 22nd.

Lyssa would never receive a response. Soon after the text was sent, Beth started to experience trouble breathing and was rushed to the hospital. She was placed in a medically induced coma. Later that week Lyssa would lose her beloved stepmom to lung cancer, as reported here at People.com. Lyssa has kept a screenshot of the text near and dear to her head since her stepmom passed away.

Lyssa has received an outpouring of love, support, and well-wishes on social media from fans of the show. Many fans even said they were keeping Beth and the family in their prayers. In the past few months, the “Dog the Bounty Hunter” family has been in the media spotlight as the loss of Beth was the focal point of the television series. Lyssa opened up about how hard the loss of her stepmother has been for her and her family. She spoke about how difficult it has been to simply carry on with daily life after losing Beth, an outgoing lady with a personality as large as her heart.

Before Beth passed away, she and her stepdaughter got a high-profile public gouging match over social media, with the two tweeting not-so-nice things back and forth. The spat started when Beth claimed Lyssa had blocked her on social media and didn’t wish her a happy Mother’s Day. Lyssa shot back, via Twitter, that the allegations were false. She went so far as to call out Beth as an “attention-seeking liar.”

The two went back and forth via Twitter, with the conversation escalating negatively. This went on while Beth battled cancer. Lyssa has since made it clear that the social media spat was simply something every mother and daughter experience at some point in their relationship, and that the two remained extremely close despite the argument. Indeed, all daughters and their mothers (or in this case stepmothers) fight at some point. The saying holds true that we often fight most with the people we love the most. Lyssa rushed to join the family at the Honolulu hospital as soon as Beth was taken in. She was at her stepmom’s bedside during her final moments.

Lyssa continues to share details about how the Chapman family is coping with the loss of “someone so needed in a family.” During the season finale where Beth’s struggle with cancel culminated in her unfortunate passing, Lyssa posted a video to Twitter. The heart-wrenching video showed Lyssa crying but thanking fans for being there for her and the family during the hardest thing they have ever gone through. She tries to hide her tears using an Instagram filter and uses the hashtag #ThisLIFEIsForBeth. Lyssa also got a tattoo to honor and remember Beth on her forearm. The tattoo is an infinity symbol that also features birds and a delicate feather.

She continues to update her Instagram with older photos that show the family together, enjoying life during happier times before Beth’s passing. Lyssa also shares photos regularly of her Dad and stepmom together. Since the “Dog the Bounty Hunter” series first began airing the couple has been famous for their outgoing personalities and their deep love for each other. While the family is struggling, they are supporting each other and taking things day by day.

Losing such a vivacious woman like Beth was truly a tragedy. Did you follow Beth's struggle with stage 4 lung cancer on the television show? Pass this story along to any "Dogs Most Wanted" fans or anyone interested in a moving story.
