Known for her hands-on parenting style, Kate Middleton also plays the role of family photographer. The Duchess of Cambridge recently showed off those photography skills and her academic background in the history of art after she shared snapshots she took of her children on social media for occasions like Prince Louis’s second birthday on April 22. Suffice it to say that Middleton has a great eye.

Not only is Middleton a St. Andrews graduate of History of Art, but the 38-year-old supermom was even inducted into the Royal Photographic Society in recognition for her "talent and enthusiasm,” according to Express. The tabloid also reports that Middleton’s royal profile specifically mentions her love of taking pictures: "The Duchess's enthusiasm for photography saw her taking photographs as part of her role during her time working within Party Pieces, a family company owned and run by her parents,” the website read, according to Express.

Just take a look at these photos of Prince Louis taken ahead of his second birthday in April. Of course, at least part of the photographs’ appeal is their subject, an impossibly cute Prince Louis. But technically, the composition, the depth of field, and the colors of Middleton’s photos look professional enough to be published in a magazine. But don’t just take our word for it.

Express also reports that The Sun’s “veteran royal photographer” Arthur Edwards even commended the Duchess on her skills behind the camera. "Kate is genuinely good at taking portraits,” Edwards said. "She fills the frame and uses natural light. She has captured some amazing pictures of her children.” That’s high praise coming from the pros.

According to People, last summer Middleton used her talents to give back by joining a photography workshop to learn more about how photography can help young adults improve self-confidence and self-expression. In a fitting gesture, that was also the moment when Queen Elizabeth II passed on her role as patron to the Royal Photographic Society to Middleton after 67 years of membership.

Luckily for us, Middleton hasn’t been shy about sharing her interest in photography and her clear talents with the public. Beyond the birthday photos of Prince Louis, the Duchess has also taken plenty of birthday photos of Charlotte, Louis and George making it a sort of family tradition on social media.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are very pleased to share three new photographs of Princess Charlotte ahead of her fourth birthday tomorrow,” Kensington Palace wrote on Twitter alongside photos of Charlotte celebrating her fourth birthday back in May 2019. “The photographs were taken in April by The Duchess at Kensington Palace and at their home in Norfolk.” And since Charlotte’s fifth birthday is just around the corner, hopefully, we can expect another batch of wholesome, expertly executed photos in the near future.
