Best Friends Build Their Own Little Town So They Can Grow Old Together

For a group of eight friends from Texas, they decided to take their friendship to the next level by building their very own little community of cabins right next to each other.

The four couples, who have known each other for well over 20 years, came up with the genius idea to build four tiny cabins side by side along the Llano River so they could grow old together.

Even though they already lived close to each other, they didn't see each other as often as they liked due to their busy schedules. Apart from the cabins, there is also a large communal kitchen and a guest bedroom for when other friends and family come to visit.

Since the friends plan on living out their retirement in the cabins, they wanted to make them as cost-effective and energy-efficient as possible. According to the Garden and Gun magazine, each 350-square-foot cabin is made from eco-friendly materials like plywood, insulated windows, and reflective steel siding that keeps the sun from heating up the inside of the cabins on those hot Texas summer days.

There are even slanted roofs which are designed to pour rainwater into 5,000-gallon water barrels. The water is then used by the friends to shower, cook, and drink after it has been filtered.

Although they saved money when designing the cabins, they did splurge a bit on the communal kitchen. There's large, stainless-steel appliances, including a commercial range and clear-glass fridge.

The black, granite countertop lined with steel stools and a wine rack on either side is the focal point of the kitchen. It also separates the kitchen from the communal dining and living room, where the friends plan to entertain guests when they come to visit.

There is plenty to enjoy outdoors as well, like the beautifully-designed octagonal picnic table and gorgeous scenery. The four couples still have some work to do before they can fully move in, but for now they are enjoying their peaceful getaways at their tiny town overflowing with friendship.

What do you think of this idea? Would you ever want to live next to one of your best friends, let alone seven of them? If you love what these friends have done, be sure to pass their idea onto your friends.
