Ben Affleck Lives Ultimate 'Dad Dream' Bonding With His Son Samuel

Ben Affleck is one of Hollywood's biggest names. Affleck is a writer, an actor, and a filmmaker and has acted in produced numerous box office hits. Affleck began acting as a child. He starred in the PSB educational series "The Voyage of the Mimi" (1984) and "The Second Voyage of the Mimi" (1988). In the series, Affleck played "Clement Tyler," in the educational series used to teach children about science. Affleck continued acting throughout high school and his college career.

He rose to fame in 1997 following the success of "Good Will Hunting," a film he co-wrote with his childhood friend, Matt Damon. According to IMDB, the critically acclaimed film was nominated for nine academy awards and won two. Damon and Affleck both received the Academy Awards for "Best Original Screenplay" and a Golden Globe for "Best Screenplay." The film's success catapulted the rising stars into the spotlight.

Since his breakout role, Affleck has starred in several blockbuster hits, such as "Dazed and Confused," "Pearl Harbor," and "Armageddon ."Due to his wide range of abilities in front of and behind the camera, Rotten Tomatoes referred to the high-profile actor as one of Hollywood's most underrated stars. 

In 2005, Affleck wed movie star Jennifer Garner. That same year, the couple welcomed their first child, a daughter, whom they named Violet. They welcomed their second child, Seraphina, born in 2009, and their youngest, Samuel, was born in 2012. The A-list couple separated in 2015, after ten years of marriage. Although they are no longer together, the prominent Hollywood stars continued co-parenting their three children. 

For Affleck becoming a father brought a deeper meaning to his life. And now, his youngest child and only son, Samuel, is growing up before the world's eyes.

Affleck and Garner have been open about the ups and downs of their divorce and their new co-parenting lifestyle. In an interview with Vanity Fair following their divorce, Garner reflected on her marriage. 

"I didn't marry the big fat movie star; I married him," she told the outlet. "And I would go back and remake that decision. I ran down the beach to him, and I would again. You can't have these three babies and so much of what we had. He's the love of my life."

Despite giving their marriage everything they each had, it ended, but the couple remained aligned on the most important thing, co-parenting their children. 

"The main thing is these kids — and we're completely in line with what we hope for them," she said. 

During his appearance on "The Howard Stern Show," Affleck explained how his mutual respect for Garner laid the foundation of their new relationship following their divorce.

"Did we have moments of tension? Did we have disagreements over the custody? Was stuff difficult for us? Did we get angry? Yes," he said. "But fundamentally, it was always underpinned with respect. I knew she was a good mom. I hope that she knew that I was a good dad. I was."

For The "Good Will Hunting" screenwriter, the most crucial thing in his life is his children. In an interview with People, Affleck stated that his children were the focal point of his life.

"My life right now is focused on, for sure, being a dad, and that's the most important thing to me," Affleck said. 

For Affleck, fatherhood always comes first. According to Eonline, the Golden Globe winner skipped the 2022 SAG Awards to celebrate his son Samuel's 10th birthday.

Samuel Garner Affleck is Affleck's and Garner's youngest child and only son. Although no longer together, the "Armageddon" star is committed to supporting his son. During an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres, Affleck revealed he's living the ultimate "dad dream" of being the little league coach for his son's team. 

"It's one of those things, you love it so much, it's like the dad dream," he told Ellen DeGeneres. "Coaching your son or your daughter on their Little League team, it's very exciting, and people have been very cool."

"It's going great," he continued. "He's awesome. It's a lot of fun. The kids are great kids. I do have to wear a Dodgers hat, because that is the team, but you know."

Affleck's devotion to his children has not gone unnoticed. His fiancee, Jennifer Lopez, honored the "Gone Girl" actor in a video tribute on Instagram.

"Happy Father's Day to the most caring, loving, affectionate, consistent, and selfless Daddy ever," Lopez captioned the post.

In the post, the "Jenny From the Block" singer redirected her followers to her site, On The JLo, where she continued to celebrate Affleck and his devotion to his children and her 14-year-old twins, Emme and Maximilian, as well. 

As Lopez and Affleck rekindled their romantic relationship, they have made huge efforts to blend their families. A source close to Lopez told Eonline about some of the steps she has taken to get to know Ben's children.

"Jennifer has made a big effort to get to know Ben's kids and welcome them into her home and her life," the insider revealed to the outlet. "They have spent a lot of time getting to know each other and letting the kids have fun and bond."
