Bread is a staple in many people's pantries. No matter if it's a sandwich, as a side dish or extra at dinner or just a slice for a quick breakfast, people all over the world love to eat it. There's just something very homey about freshly baked bread. If you don't want to go to the store, or can't, but would still like to enjoy a fresh loaf, this simple beginner's recipe is just the thing for you. No baking experience required!

Many people think baking bread is actually hard, but that is not the case. A simple white sandwich bread can be baked quickly and easily, as this video by Larry on his YouTube channel Deep South Texas shows. The southern gentleman offers a simple beginner's recipe with easy step-by-step instructions to follow. The end result is two loaves of a fluffy white sandwich bread. In order to bake along with Larry, you need:

  • 7 cups bread flour
  • 3 cups water
  • 2 Table spoons instant yeast (2 packages)
  • 3 tea spoons salt
  • 2 Table spoons oil

Start by pouring the water into a big mixing bowl and adding the yeast. Mix it up until the yeast has dissolved into the water. Then you can add the flour, the salt and the oil and start mixing the ingredients. You're going to be left with a sticky, doughy mess, but that's it exactly what we want. Take the dough out of the bowl and put it on a clean, flat surface where you can knead the bread for 8 minutes. That's tiring, but a good workout - and the payoff is going to be fresh bread on top of burned calories! Once the 8 minutes are up, let it rest for 3 minutes under a cloth.

After the dough has rested, take off the cloth, sprinkle some flour on it and start shaping it. You want to first flatten it, then shape it into a ball-like shape to give the bread tension and form. Once it's a little ball, put it back into the mixing bowl, sprinkle it with flour and put the cloth back over it. Let it rest and rise for about one hour.

Once it has risen, get the dough back out of the bowl and unto your clean surface. Divide the dough by half and then shape each half into a ball just like before. Let the two dough balls sit while you butter two baking tins for your loaves. Then shape each of the balls into a triangle by flattening the dough and folding it, until the base of the triangle is about as wide as the baking tin is long. Then simply roll up the dough, put the finished bread loaves into their tins and bake in the oven at 400°F for 40 minutes. And that's it!
