Before Passing Away, Wife Tells Husband to Keep Watering Plants. 5 Years Later He Figures Out Her Joke

One of the worst days of your life is losing a spouse, especially one that has been with you since your teenage years.

Phedre and Nigel Fitton had been married for decades and had known each other since they were 16 years old. Phedre, at the age of 69 years old, passed away from cancer. This left Nigel alone and a widower, Huffpost reported.

Nigel was completely destroyed by her death. He could not imagine his life moving on without her.

Before she passed away, Phedre asked him to do one thing for her.

She pleaded to him, “Please water my bathroom plants after I’m gone.” Nigel promised her he would. It may have seemed like a bizarre request, but he would have done anything for her.

Day after day, Nigel continued to water the bathroom plants. He would never let his late wife down

Their children would often reflect on Phedre and what an amazing mother she was. They recalled her wonderful sense of humor. She had no problem pranking anyone, including her own family (especially her spouse).

Nigel’s daughters had noticed him continuing to water the plants, even though sometimes the water would overflow from the pot and get all over the bathroom floor! He thought that strange, but again, he would never let his wife down.

The pools of water would get so bad sometimes that Nigel would worry if there was a leak in the bathroom. He thought it might be the toilet, but he could not find the leak anywhere!

The plants were as green and lush as ever, the same as the day Nigel started watering them. Nigel felt a sense of accomplishment keeping his wife’s plants alive. He also felt great about keeping his promise to her, and when he decided to move, five years after her death, he brought the plants with him to his new home.

That is when he discovered that the plants were plastic this entire time! Phedre had pranked him again and this time from the grave!

Nigel was not upset by this in the slightest. One of the reasons he loved Phedre so much was her amazing sense of humor. He had wondered why the plants looked so perfect this entire time!
