On Tuesday, former President Barack Obama helped out at a food bank in Chicago by assisting volunteers to prepare food for the needy ahead of Thanksgiving. Donning a Chicago White Sox hat and a pair of latex gloves, he chatted happily with volunteers while he helped pack potatoes.

"You guys are doing such a great job helping out," the former POTUS told one of the young volunteers who proceeded to beam with pride. He told them all how proud of them he is and what a great example they are setting for others.

The nonprofit organization was incredibly grateful for the help and tweeted their thanks for the surprise visit.

They believe "no one should go hungry, especially this time of year, and that's why (they're) working to address the root causes of hunger in Chicago and Cook County."

It was a real treat for the volunteers who could not believe they were meeting Barak Obama and happily chatted with him while they packed the special Thanksgiving food packs. The local non-profit provides nourishing food for those in need which makes all the difference, especially on special occasions such as Thanksgiving.

During his presidency, Obama volunteered and visited many food banks, often accompanied by his wife Michelle and daughters Sasha and Malia.
