Baby Who Couldn’t Make A Sound At Birth Due To Rare Condition Says His First Words

Imagine the horror of seeing your baby crying and hearing nothing. In addition to this, imagine that your baby could barely breathe. Patrick and Holly watched this, but they were fortunate enough to have Dr. Christian Hochstim at the Children’s Hospital Los Angeles make things right.

When doctors saw that little Rio couldn’t breathe, an urgent tracheotomy was performed on the boy. His parents were then told that they would probably have to shut down the ventilator, and their son wouldn’t be going home, as reported here at CBS News.

Rio was then sent to Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. This was when Dr. Christian Hochstim found out Rio couldn’t use his voice because the boy’s vocal chords where almost completely jointed as one. The condition also made it difficult for the baby to breathe. Surgery was necessary to correct these problems.

Dr. Hochstim stated that Rio’s vocal chords were separated, and the area under his vocal chords had to be worked on.

Three months after the surgery, Rio’s parents were able to hear their baby’s voice, and they were very excited about it. He was nine months old then.

Soon after Rio regained his voice, the doctors removed the trach from his neck, and he said “Dada” for the very first time.

Rio is now doing well.

Watch this touching story in the video. He is such an adorable little boy who can now live a normal life thanks to his amazing doctor. Please give others the opportunity to view this video by letting them know about it.
