Baby Rabbit And Pigeon Chick Collapse Divider To Console One Another

Kildare Animal Foundation Wildlife Unit in Ireland spoke about a baby rabbit and pigeon chick at their organization, saying that all the two animals wanted was some companionship in their time of transition without their parents. Both the rabbit and the pigeon chick shared something in common. They became orphans around the same time and were brought into the wildlife unit for immediate care.

While sharing an incubator, the two were placed in the same basket with a divider in between them, to give them some space. But soon enough they broke down the divider and started snuggling up together – it's the sweetest thing to see!

The baby rabbit was first to arrive to the wildlife reserve in August. He was practically a newborn because his mother’s umbilical cord remains were still on him. An unforeseen seizure affected his walking. His caretakers thought he may not make it, but he recuperated from his condition and persevered!

A few weeks passed by before the pigeon chick arrived. A woman reported finding a nest on the ground with the recently hatched chick chirping away while sitting beside an unhatched egg. Unfortunately, the pigeon chick’s sibling did not make it because the egg became too cold to turn into a chick.

There was only one small problem that was going to bring these two unlikely friends closer together. Since they were both orphaned right after being born, the baby rabbit and the pigeon chick were required to be in an incubator to keep warm. Their foster carer only had one incubator in her possession. To rectify the issue and keep both animals safe, the baby rabbit and pigeon chick shared the incubator. She put up a divider to give the animals a space of their own inside their warm new home.

After getting the little ones settled in the incubator, the foster carer went to check on them again and was surprised to find they had tipped the divider over to cuddle and snuggle side by side. After both baby animals were alone for so long after being separated from their families, all they desired was the physical love and warmth of being together with a kindred soul. Brought together as orphans, these two animals became unlikely friends!

The wildlife reserve suggested that the two baby animals have found comfort and warmth together. Ever since their first feed, they have been inseparable. While they are still such fragile creatures at this young age, the baby rabbit and pigeon chick help each other to continue to press on in good health. Their companionship has helped them both to be healthier and happier individually and as a unit. Just in the first week of being together, their companionship has continually grown. Kildare’s goal is to have both animals return to their habitats when they become strong enough to defend themselves.
