Animals often surprise us with their kindness and compassion. Elephants are known to be some of the most sensitive animals out there.

This little elephant called Kham Lha from Thailand doesn't hesitate to come to a man's rescue when he looks like he's drowning.

A herd of elephants are standing at a riverbank. A man is swimming in the river and then pretends that he is drowning. What is so remarkable is what happens next. According to India Today, the footage was originally shared on Twitter some time ago, but is gaining popularity again as it is such a sweet video.

When the baby elephant hears the man calling out and sees him splashing around in the river, struggling to swim, she rushes across the water towards him in an attempt to save him. The elephant is clearly worried that the man is in danger and wants to do what she can to help him.

The rescue scene took place at Thailand's Elephant Nature Park which is a sanctuary and rescue center for elephants. Darrick, the 'drowning' swimmer seen in the video, works alongside many others who aim to protect these wonderful creatures.

Kham Lha is an orphaned baby elephant and has developed a very special bond with Darrick, who looks after her every day. Fortunately Darrick was not in trouble, but it is incredible to see what this elephant was willing to do to help him. This should inspire us all to protect and conserve this beautiful species.
