Awkward Moment Between Simone Biles & George Strait's Wife Sparks Mixed Reactions From Fans

On Nov. 20, 2024, Olympic Gold Medalist Simone Biles turned heads with her fashion choices at the CMA Awards in Nashville, Tennessee. 

Although some were impressed with Biles’ appearance at the event, opinions were divided regarding a perceived look she gave to American singer George Strait’s wife.

Biles stunned with two coordinated outfits: a shimmering, form-fitting metallic gown with a knotted shoulder strap and, later, a tailored, glittery silver power suit. Both looks were gorgeous, but it was her sleek bob hairstyle that stood out, framing her face perfectly. 

An admirer highlighted how her bob suits her post-Olympic lifestyle: “I love the bob. I can imagine that would not be easy as an active gymnast, I love that in this post OLY era she can rock this beautiful style.”

Many admired her look, but some offered mixed reactions, commenting, “Beautiful Dress but it doesn’t fit!!” Another observer agreed the metallic gown was unflattering because of its fit: “It looks like it doesn’t fit 🤷.”

Meanwhile, another person speculated, “She is going to be a mum!!”

On the other hand, some netizens praised Biles' new locks, saying, “I like her new hairstyle, so pretty.” Another declared, “she is ridiculously beautiful, she can rock any hairstyle!” Another person saluted Biles' confidence in experimenting with creative looks. 

While the star looked beautiful in her ensembles, her interaction with country music icon George's wife, Norma Strait, sparked online debate. During the awards ceremony, George was honored with the Willie Nelson Lifetime Achievement Award. As he received his award on stage, the "I Cross My Heart" singer expressed his appreciation for everyone who supported him.

George went on to thank his closest family members: “And last but not least, my family who are all here tonight. My wife, Norma, my son, Bubba, his wife (...) my grandkids (...) so great to have y’all here.”

George's wife of 53 years, Norma, was supporting her award-winning husband from the audience, and soon the camera panned back, focusing on her. Standing close to Norma was Biles, and a short clip floating around showed her looking at Norma in a way that alerted some fans.

One user on Tiktok commented:

“Gosh, what a look.”

Another pointed out:

“I saw that.. I was like (...) what a look.. the (sic) look of jealousy. Especially with everyone else clapping and smiling.”

Someone else reiterated:

“Eyes of jealousy.”

Despite the scrutiny, many viewers didn’t think that her look held any underlying motive and deemed it an innocent glance at Norma, who was to her right side. One Facebook user rationally commented:

“This is stupid. She doesn’t look any kind of way. She just looks like she’s observing everyone in the crowd…and not in a bad way.🙄 you create hate.”

Another person chimed in:

“The assumptions y’all make in these comments are crazy!! Yall just looking for something to be offended about!”

A TikTok user also explained:

“Let’s try to stop putting thoughts into the heads of people. We have no idea what she is thinking."

Biles' loyal supporters were quick to praise the Olympian:

“Simone looked Gorgeous 🥰.”

Another fan gushed:

“She’s such a bright light! 💙.”

Biles led the USA’s women’s gymnastics team to victory in the 2024 Olympic final in Paris, securing a total score of 171.296. The team’s win marked the fourth gold for the USA, following their triumphs in 1996, 2012 and 2016.

Celebrating the win, Biles shared a photo of her team on Instagram, hilariously captioning it:

“lack of talent, lazy, olympic champions ❤️🥇🇺🇸.”
