Emmy-winning writer, director and producer Robert B. Weide has created heaps of moving and impactful stories on television for decades. Still, none of his works had such a viral reaction as his obituary for his late wife, Linda Weide.
Linda, who was with Robert for 28 years, passed away on Dec. 25, 2022. He wrote a heartfelt tribute for his wife for the Los Angeles Times and posted the published obituary on Twitter on Feb. 11, 2023. The post has since reached over 2.3 million views and counting.
Robert's best accomplishment in Hollywood was as director and executive producer for the HBO comedy series "Curb Your Enthusiasm" starring Larry David. He worked on the show from 2000 to 2005 and won several recognitions from the Primetime Emmy Awards as the man behind the camera.
Robert came up with the show's end credit, which has now become a popular internet meme. The meme features various user-uploaded videos of bloopers, embarrassing interactions, or disgraceful circumstances, which all end with "Frolic," the theme song to "Curb Your Enthusiasm," and the credit: "Directed by Robert B. Weide."
Linda was formerly an actress who also appeared as a guest star on "Curb Your Enthusiasm." In 2018, the couple was rocked with sad news over Linda's diagnosis. She developed Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP), a rare and progressive brain disorder affecting walking, eye muscle control, and the mind's ability to focus. PSP's symptoms are often mistaken for Parkinson's disease, and the condition has no known cure.
Robert revealed that Linda could no longer talk in the last few months of her life but could still laugh while watching her favorite TV shows.

"What a team we made," Robert wrote about his marriage to Linda in her obituary. "They say, 'Nothing lasts forever,' but they didn't know about my love for her."
He went on to detail the first time he was blinded by Linda's smile when they met in 1994 and wrote about her in his journal that night. He described his wife as "remarkably low maintenance," who was content with a grilled cheese sandwich as a birthday treat.
Robert said that his wife was a best friend to the animals and frequently donated to sanctuaries and shelters. A friend of hers once remarked that they would love to be reincarnated as a rescue if Linda took care of them.
Robert also shared that he and his wife bought cemetery plots next to each other, and she kidded that she wanted her inscription to say "I'm with Stupid." The heartbroken husband said he does not know what he's going to do now that his wife is gone but having her in his life made him the "luckiest SOB who ever lived."
"For those who never knew her, I'm sorry for your loss," Robert ended his tribute.
On Twitter, the director said that the obituary barely uncovered what his wife really meant to him, but he encouraged his followers to read his tribute because "You would have loved her."
The post received thousands of replies, commending Robert for writing such a beautiful tribute to a wife who was a blessing. In another Twitter post, Robert said he was surprised by the attention but thrilled that the world now knows about his wonderful wife and their 28 years of togetherness:
"But if people are moved by how wonderful my wife was/is, then I'm thrilled. I guess people still love a really good love story."
