Parents of children with special needs go the extra mile to make sure their child is receiving the care and education they need to progress forward as individuals. Though this may take extra time and money, it is completely worth it to see their love and joy learning new skills and developing their personality.

There are specific schools that specialize in teaching special needs children, and their patience and care is exactly what parents need to set their mind at ease when leaving their child for the day.

But for one mom, she was leaving her autistic child in an abusive situation each and every day without even knowing it.

Milissa Davis’ 12-year-old son Camden has severe autism that makes it difficult for him to speak, read, and write. To help with his disabilities, Milissa enrolled Camden at the Greater Baton Rouge Hope Academy, a school known for helping children with disabilities or special needs.

Camden recently started behaving strangely, and had become very aggressive and started wetting the bed. Milissa tried to find answers to her son’s sudden change in temperament and spoke to the school. When she tried to discuss her son with his teachers and the school officials, she was brushed off. This left Milissa feeling unsettled.

She had to figure out the cause.

The concerned mother formulated a plan and sent her son to school with a voice recorder in his backpack. She was not prepared to hear the awful things that were said to her son, and in his presence. Milissa explained that Camden had always tried to explain what was happening at school to her, but because he struggled with speech he could never quite find the words. But now Milissa knew the truth.

Milissa listened to the recordings, which confirmed her suspicions that the teachers were hiding something from her. They berated and mocked her son for no reason, and the two teachers heard in the recording acted as a sort of tag team going back and forth ridiculing Camden.

Teacher: "Camden, why don't you have anything written down? That's why you can't sit with everyone. Tell your momma that."

Milissa was extremely heartbroken and wanted justice for her son. She brought the recording to the school officials, who acted quickly. Both teachers were fired the next day.
