One of the best things about reality talent shows such as "X-Factor" and "The Voice" is that absolutely anyone that can show talent has a chance to make it big. Unfortunately, in our appearance-obsessed world, those who look a certain way are usually not considered for "glamourous" things such as being a megahit singing superstar. Even though the one thing we learn as children from our parents is not to judge others by how they appear on the outside, the lessons are swiftly forgotten when we become adults. 

It is therefore a great thing that talent shows are giving every ordinary person an opportunity to show their remarkable skills and talents and get themselves on a map. By becoming recognized, many contestants have gone on to finally pursuing their dreams and making the best of their God-given gifts. Some of the most powerful moments in talent show history has been when a person is judged immediately upon entering the stage and expectations are low, but the person takes the opportunity in stride and amazes everyone, including the judges.

This story of Julia Ivanova is one that proves you simply can't judge a book by its cover. Ivanova was 29 years old back in 2016 when this performance was given. She is from Ukraine and appeared on the country's version of "X-Factor". Though everyone judged her immediately due to her perceived off looks, she proved that he has an incredible voice and the feel of a rock star that has it all together. This video is sure to give you the chills and make you appreciate the fact that talent comes in all forms. 

It isn't always easy to not be judgmental when we first see people. It is almost like a natural instinct to "jump to a conclusion" about people we meet. In fact, a study from Harvard University reports that it IS our natural instinct to judge someone as it works hand in hand with survival. However, judging others to protect ourselves in the wild and judging others just because we can are two different things. The latter happened to Julia Ivanova, who appeared on the "X-Factor Ukraine" in 2016. 

She came up on stage wearing a snazzy, shiny suit that was as dazzling as it was stylish. The most striking feature that immediately catches everyone's eye is Ivanova's flaming red hair. Most people who have a unique sense of style are judged quite harshly, especially on talent shows. The question that is most often asked by people is, "Is this person doing this for attention, or is this truly who they are?" Quite early on, many in the audience begin snickering at Ivanova, and expectations were low for her performance. 

Moreover, she had chosen a very challenging song in terms of vocal range and depth: Queen's "The Show Must Go On." Freddie Mercury's world-famous performances for his songs continue to have a huge impact on hard rock fans even today, so the question was, could Ivanova really do this song the justice it requires? Even with so much judgment around her, Ivanova remained unfazed and determined, and soon enough, the music started. Ivanova showed the audience almost immediately that she was not like other singers.

Within the first few notes, one of the judges was left with her jaw hanging. It was an incredible voice, deep with texture and skill that even the most talented singers may not always have. Her bold voice matched her bold personality, and the audience was treated to a magical rendition of "The Show Must Go On." The audience as well as the judges were absolutely shocked by her audition in the best way.

The major beats of the song at the beginning were met by a theatrical performance along with it that was breathtaking. Most singers sing their chosen song, sometimes punctuating it with body movements, but Ivanova took it to the next level. She jumped around the stage with unending energy, landed on her knees as she belted out the most important notes, and performed with such conviction that the audience had no choice but to jump up on their feet and applaud for her. At the end of her performance, the entire area was buzzing with so much energy thanks to Ivanova's electric performance. She showed everyone that she was a true rock star! 

Although Ivanova did not go on to win the competition, she has gone on to have an illustrious singing career. She continues to provide live shows on Youtube for her fans even today and boasts an impressive 30,000 subscribers. She also gives her fans regular updates on her Instagram page, where we can see that she still sports her signature flaming red hair. Today, Ivanova is also part of a band called Eazy-Rocks, which consists of five people including Ivanova.

According to the band's website, their music is "inspired by the 80s and embedded in the present time-pure modern nostalgia." The band is based in Vienna and also provides live shows on Youtube. Along with this, Ivanova also owns a Patreon account where she gives her subscribed fans a glimpse into her music projects and be the first to get updates. Her audition video has truly set her on the map, and even today continues to rake in more fans. 

As of March 2021, her audition video has garnered over 3 million views and has been widely applauded by netizens. One user, LordBLB, wrote, "I would never say this normally, but Freddie would be proud of this one!" Many comments have compared Ivanova's talent to that of Mercury's. Another user, Mysteron71, said, "Freddie had shoes nobody could fill.. Queen would have better off hiring this lass than Adam Lambert :D Damn good performance.. Well done ;)" 

Damir DEBEVC was amazed by Ivanova as well, saying, "Totally unbelievable! 25 years i have been waiting for something like this. Freddie is very difficult to cover, but you nailed it perfectly. No one didn`t came close until now. Thank you for this."

This comment by Vicky Vermeire captures the essence of what most of Ivanova's fans feel in the comments section after they listen to her rendition, "Freddy would rise from his grave to salute her. Singing her own rendition, but she doesn't copy the song. She IS the song. Never seen such a perfect cover of any song. Great voice, great performance and a woman who's picture perfect. What else can you be waiting for?"
