Audience Not Expecting To Be Blown Away By Senior's Performance - But They Go Wild Over His Velvety Voice

Blind Auditions can be hit or miss for both judges and audiences alike. Often, an audience will be into a performer more than the judges. In those cases, it is possible to win over the crowd, but not be selected. Performances of American Classics can be even more difficult to gauge.

The song has to have enough of the original performance to be recognized, but a degree of creativity to set it apart. So when a gray pinstriped suited, René Bishop walked onto the stage the crowd was a bit unsure of what was in store for them.

It took less than 10 seconds of his velvety smooth rendition of Unchained Melody for them to erupt into applause.

Initially, it was the audience's recognition of an American Classic that made them cheer, but with each passing second his mastery of the song won over more of the crowd. The only people left to win over were the judges.

The judges, while openly impressed by what they were hearing, didn't immediately give him the validation he needed to move on. They remained steadfast in their decision to wait until the more difficult sections of the song. They wanted to be sure he could not only hit the notes, but that his version of Unchained Melody was unique enough to show his style.

As they debated when would be the appropriate moment to hit their giant red buttons, René remained confident. His voice never wavered. His confidence never waned. He couldn't see what the judges were doing, but his magical voice filled the room in a way that was impossible to ignore.

With smiles on their faces, the judges held off longer and longer despite musing about what singer René channeled at different times. It was not until René hit that one powerful note that jolted them into simultaneously slamming their buzzers and turning in unison to see the man with the golden voice and seemingly unlimited range deliver an even greater ending to an already outstanding beginning.
