It’s a story about Dylan, a then 17-year-old who hails from Trinidad and moved to the United States at the tender age of seven with his family. The family suffered further stress emanating from Dylan’s twin brothers who had severe heart conditions. Although Dylan suffered from stress at such as young age, he refused to let his family's circumstances cripple his dreams.

The young man attended Henry Snyder High School in New Jersey in which he put extra effort into his school work. His efforts were recognized, and he got initiated into the honor society and served as class president in his senior years. That wasn’t the peak of his accomplishments. Wait for it.

After clearing high school, Dylan received college admission letters from 18 institutions! Remarkable!

Dylan commented on his accomplishments stating that he had faced a lot of challenges along the way especially with people discouraging him that he wouldn’t make it. Thankfully, due to his willpower and hard work he looks at 18 acceptance letters on his desk that verify that his dreams were valid.

The then 17-year-old derives motivation from his mother, Khadine who has fought against all the odds to see her children receive all basic needs. She joined a non-profit making organization, “ Woman Rising” that helps single mothers cater to their families. Through the organization, Dylan has a place to call home and a comfortable place to study.

Dylan continues that his mother’s struggles gave him the courage to keep working towards achieving his goals to ensure that he wouldn't see his family go down that road again. Among his 18 letters, Dylan has decided on joining The College of New Jersey where he chose to pursue political science.

Dylan’s story revives so much emotion and gives hope to those who have thought of giving up. Probably someone on your timeline or world would feel better after reading Dylan’s story. Let them know that there is always light at the end of the tunnel and Dylan demonstrates it perfectly.
