At Little Sunshine at the Market in 2014, set up on the sidewalk along Market Street in Nashville, TN, a family of country musicians played some tunes. Most of the passersby didn't pay much attention until a little girl stepped up to the mic. Emi Sunshine, a nine-year-old singer started singing Johnny Cash's "Folsom Prison Blues" and really blew it away.

This little girl's version of "Folsom Prison Blues" does a great job of capturing Cash's rugged style. It is amazing to hear such a big voice and personality from such a little person. Listeners in the background tap their feet and nod along to her energetic performance.

In this 2014 video, the nine-year-old belts out the song with passion and energy. Behind her, an older man plays bass and a man in overalls plays the drum. The backup musicians smile at Emi's awesome performance, and people crowd around to hear her song. You really can't judge a book by its cover. This band might be dressed like simple country folk, but their performance is just great.

It is not an overstatement to say that this young lady is a musical prodigy. The songstress in the video, Emi Sunshine, has a Facebook page and even her own YouTube channel. Since this 2014 video, Emi has continued to cover popular classic rock, blues, and country music chart-toppers including Janis Joplin's "Me and Bobby McGee." She also has started to record original albums and the performer now tours the US. Rolling Stone named her among “10 new country artists you need to know.”

Based on this early video of Emi Sunshine, it seems like she performs with a lot of heart. We're excited to see what's in store for this little musician.
