A 97-year-old American Veteran was traveling to France for the D-Day celebration of World War II veterans when he met the 92-year-old Franch woman with whom he fell in love with during the war. They recognized each other and were reunited after 75 years – this proves that true love really exists.

During the war, the American soldier fell in love with the 18-year-old French girl that was living in the town where the soldiers were stationed. At the time, KT Robbins was only 24-yeras old soldier in the American army. When he saw Jeannine Ganaye, an 18-year-old French girl, he instantly fell in love with her. This happened in the town of Briey in 1944.

The two got a chance to meet when Robbins needed to have his clothes washed. Jeannine's mother agreed to wash the boy's clothes. When the two saw each other, they instantly fell in love. However, two months later, Robbins had to leave for the Eastern Front to face the Axis powers. He told her that he may come back to take her with him. Jeannine was very upset that he would later leave to the US without her.

She was so hopeful that he would come for her that she learned English. Instead, Robbins from the 26th Infantry, First Division, later served at the bakery battalion and returned to the United States alone.

It was there that he met his wife, Lillian, that would live with him for the next 70 years until her death in 2015. The two worked together in a Mississippi hardware store for the next 50 years. As for Jeannine, she also got married in 1949 to someone else. She went on to have five children.

Robbins never forgot about the girl he fell in love with in France. He would keep her photo for seven decades. He showed French journalists that were interviewing him the photo. He was hoping to find her and her family if she was still alive during the 75th anniversary of the D-Day. He was not very sure that she would still be alive.

Journalists found Jeannine in a retirement home just 27 miles away from her hometown where the two first met. The reunion of the pair was an emotional one as the two stared into each other's eyes after 75 years of living apart.

Robbins told her that he always loved her and he had never gotten her out of his heart. When she asked him why he never came back, he told her that had gotten married and could not come back. After a few hours of being together, Robbins had to leave off for another celebration in Normandy. However, the two promised to see each other again. The meeting ended with a first kiss after 75 years apart.
