At 77, Cher Concerns Fans As "She's Barely Walking" While Leaving Hotel After Performance

Cher has been an icon for the majority of her life thanks to her amazing talents as an actress and singer. As a member of the musical duo Sonny & Cher, Cher skyrocketed to pop stardom in the late 1960s and went on to achieve great success in the years following.

Born Cherilyn Sarkisian on May 20, 1946, in El Centro, California, the actress didn’t always live such a lavish and luxurious lifestyle, as Cher and her family struggled financially while the star was young.

For the first time in her decades-long career, Cher released a holiday-themed album in 2023, and after performing her tracks during the Thanksgiving Day Parade, many fans noticed something off about the way the singer walked. In October 2023, Cher released her first-ever Christmas album, and she admitted that she previously had no intentions of creating it. However, when her record label, Warner Records, proposed it to her, she had one condition.

“I said if I can do my version I’ll do it, and they were very pleasant,” she told Billboard in an interview published that month.

Since Cher wanted the creative direction to go her way, she didn’t want to include overrated Christmas tracks that people have been playing every single year, like “Santa Claus is Coming to Town,” “Jingle Bells,” and more. 

“I just said to them, ‘There will be Christmas songs and they’ll be appropriate, but I want to do what I feel,” she said.

The holiday album is a major project for the singer because it was not only her first Christmas album but also her first studio record in over a decade. The tracklist was composed of 14 songs which featured some classics like “Please Come Home For Christmas” and many more.

In addition, some of the biggest musicians in the music industry collaborated with her on some of the songs, like rapper Tyga, Darlene Love, Cyndi Lauper, Michael Bublé, and the legendary Stevie Wonder.

Regarding a possible comeback on the big stage, as her last major tour was in 2005 and the last time she had a residency in Las Vegas was in 2011, the musician was unsure as of 2023.

“Well, I don’t know. Look, if I do a concert, there’s gonna be a tour behind it. I’m working really hard right now,” she said.

Since Cher had already put out a holiday album, it was only fitting for her to be one of the performers at the 2023 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade held in New York City.

According to an article published by CNN in November 2023, the musician performed a new song off her new album titled “DJ Play a Christmas Song.” The singer embodied the full Christmas spirit with her outfit: she wore a glittered white coat and a long black tie, and backup dancers wearing nutcracker-inspired outfits surrounded her. 

Although this was a massive day for her as she rarely performs, many people have accused her of lip-syncing because some online users noticed that even though there were times the microphone was not near her mouth, the lyrics of the track continued playing clearly.

Later that day, the singer was spotted leaving her hotel following her performance, and many users pointed out in a video that there was something wrong with the way she walked.

“She’s barely walking more like shuffling her feet,” one wrote. Another user blamed it on her footwear of choice that day as they commented: “She has no balance!!! Maybe she shouldn’t be wearing 100 pounds shoes.”

“Looks like she’s half asleep,” another one wrote. 

Despite the negative comments, there were still people who stood by and defended her as one commented: “She’s 77 years old!!! Let’s see how great you will be walking at her age, if at all. People need to shut their mouth.”

Cher had already addressed comments about her age in May 2023 as she took to social media to express her feelings.

“Ok,Will Someone 🙏🏼PLEASE Tell me…..When Will I Feel OLD👶🏻.This is ridiculous🙄. I keep hearing these numbers,but I Honestly can’t understand them,” she posted.
