At 74, Vera Wang Exudes Age-Defying Beauty As Fans Remark She Looks 20 And 'Does Not Age'

Legendary fashion designer Vera Wang turned 74 in June 2023, but she continues to defy the laws of aging and does not seem to age. Fans and fashion enthusiasts alike have been left astounded as photos of the icon show her looking like a 20-year-old lady.

With a successful career spanning over three decades, Wang, who was born in New York to Chinese parents in 1949, has made an indelible mark on the fashion industry, particularly with her exquisite bridal wear creations. Upon graduating from Sarah Lawrence College in the 1970s, Wang secured a role as an editor at Vogue and became the youngest editor in the magazine's history. 

She dedicated 17 years to the magazine before departing in 1987 to embark on a new chapter as part of Ralph Lauren's team. Remarkably, at the age of 40, she took a bold step, resigning from her position to start her independent journey as a bridal wear designer. Wang succeeded to snag A-list clients from Hollywood, the political elite and scions of society circles.

However, what continues to captivate the world is not only her fashion prowess but also her seemingly ageless appearance. Wang, who has two adult daughters. has always been unconventional in her approach to aging. Instead of succumbing to societal pressures of covering up as one grows older, she embraces her unique style, confidently displaying her exceptionally fit physique.

The latest wave of admiration came from an Instagram post that Wang posted on Sept. 9, 2023, that captured a candid moment where she enjoyed tennis with fellow designer Keith Lissner.  

Donning a US Open cap and stylish oversized sunglasses, Wang looked effortlessly youthful, akin to any millennial taking a casual selfie at a sporting event. Social media erupted with comments praising her timeless beauty. 

"She looks like 20 wow amazing," one admirer posted in the comments. 

"Your face has the most elegant shape," another fan remarked while another said, "Vera does not age."

In May 2020, Wang also stunned her followers when she shared a photo of herself wearing a youthful ensemble consisting of a bright orange top with a pair of white denim shorts. The photo, which showed off her figure, received over 37,000 likes.  

However, speaking with People in April 2023, the designer revealed that she didn't understand the reaction from social media users about her appearance, especially after she got comments asking about her secrets to staying youthful-looking.

"I guess it's just that people have an idea of what 70 looks like today," Wang said. "I have so many friends that are 65 to 70 that look fabulous."

When one fan asked for some age-defying tips, Wang nonchalantly attributed this to work, good sleep and avoiding the sun. These have been part of her regimen for years, and clearly, they are working wonders.

In a candid interview with BBC 100 Women in March 2022, Wang revealed some of her unconventional secrets. She emphasized the value of a vodka cocktail, which she described as her “magic elixir” for that end-of-the-day transition from her intense work schedule to enjoying her private life. 

Her lifelong dedication to the world of fashion has also played a pivotal role in maintaining her youthful appearance.

"I've been in fashion since I was 19 years old. Not in front of the camera, behind it," she told BBC. "I never thought about youth, probably because I work with the most beautiful women in the world on a daily basis.”
