Betty White is one of the remaining legendary actors from the golden age of television. She is the queen of sitcoms and has been working in show business since 1939. She is best known for her roles in “The Mary Tyler Moore Show,” “Golden Girls” and “Hot in Cleveland.” With her career spanning over 80 years, White has been recognized by the “Guinness Book of World Records” for having the longest-running career in the film and television industry.

White has also received eight Emmy awards in multiple categories, three American Comedy Awards, three Screen Actor Guild Awards and one Grammy. In 1985, she was inducted to the Television Hall of Fame and even has her own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. White’s accomplishments in her field really can’t be understated.

Outside of acting, White has dedicated her life to advocating for animal health and welfare. She is a devoted pet enthusiast and has three dogs of her own. White has worked with a number of animal organizations, including the Los Angeles Zoo Commission, Actors and Others for Animals, the African Wildlife Foundation and The Morris Animal Foundation.

On January 17, 2022, the beloved star will turn 100, and fans will get the special opportunity to celebrate White with a movie dedicated to the star. The film will feature a whole slew of well-known celebrities and will revisit some of the funniest moments from TV and film history. Ahead of the film’s release and White’s birthday, we’ve collected some of her most memorable quotes. And there are some real gems.

  1. “It's your outlook on life that counts. If you take yourself lightly and don't take yourself too seriously, pretty soon you can find the humor in our everyday lives. And sometimes it can be a lifesaver.”

  2. “Don't try to be young. Just open your mind. Stay interested in stuff. There are so many things I won't live long enough to find out about, but I'm still curious about them. You know people who are already saying, 'I'm going to be 30 — oh, what am I going to do?' Well, use that decade! Use them all!”

  3. “You can always tell about somebody by the way they put their hands on an animal.”

  4. “Animals don't lie. Animals don't criticize. If animals have moody days, they handle them better than humans do.”

  5. “I may be a senior, but so what? I'm still hot.”

It’s no surprise that these quotes are full of wisdom — not to mention a bit of classic Betty White humor — as the actress has been around for nearly a century.

In celebration of her longevity, White is releasing a film called “Betty White: 100 Years Young – a Birthday Celebration.” It is a one-day-only special event that can be viewed in theaters across the country. The movie was created by Steve Boettcher and Mike Trinklein. White said to CNN about the event, "Who doesn't love a party?!? This one is gonna be GREAT!"

Fans can also expect to see guest appearances from Ryan Reynolds, Tina Fey, Robert Redford, Lin Manuel- Miranda, Clint Eastwood, Morgan Freeman, Jay Leno, Carol Burnett and many more.

They will also be able to re-experience some of White’s most iconic moments from  “The Golden Girls,” “Hot in Cleveland,” “The Proposal” and “The Mary Tyler Moore Show.”

The star will also share behind-the-scenes stories from her many years as a performer. It is said that the special film will reveal a lost episode from White’s very first sitcom as well. CNN also reports that the movie honors White for being the first woman to produce a national TV show and the first woman to receive an Emmy nomination.

White’s signature role came in 1985 with her portrayal of Rose Nylund on “The Golden Girls.” The show, and especially White’s role, are still beloved to this day. The series, which aired until 1992,  also starred Bea Arthur, Estelle Getty, and Rue McClanahan.

Fans on social media have been talking about White’s upcoming 100th birthday for months. On Twitter, many users posted about the star and expressed how much they love her.

One person wrote: “Betty White is 99 years old and 3 months away from 100; please provide her with national security protection and wrap her safely in bubble wrap; we love her.”

Another Twitter user suggested: “I have been informed that Betty White is turning 100 in January. We're all getting the day off as a national holiday I presume.”

When some people saw White’s name on the list of trending topics, they assumed the worst and were relieved to find out she is OK. A third person tweeted: “For the love of all that is holy, you can't have Betty White trending without a disclaimer attached saying she's fine! Jesus…”
