Arnold Schwarzenegger has had a long and interesting life. He is 74-years-old and has had careers as a bodybuilder, famous actor and politician. The larger-than-life star rose to Hollywood fame when he starred in “Conan the Barbarian” in 1982. Schwarzenegger is best known for appearing in the “Terminator” franchise. Some of his other popular films include “Predator,” “The Running Man” and “Total Recall.”
Schwarzenegger was born in allied-occupied Austria in 1947. He began lifting weights when he was 15-years-old and won the Mr. Universe competition at the age of 20. He then went on to win the Mr. Olympia title seven times. Schwarzenegger is still an important figure in the world of bodybuilding, and the Arnold Sports Festival is named after him. It is considered to be the second most prestigious bodybuilding event after Mr. Olympia.
The action star first became governor of California in November 2003 to replace Gray Davis after he was recalled. Schwarzenegger was then reelected in 2006 and served as governor until his term limit in 2011. After that, he returned to acting and has also been credited as a film producer, author and businessman.
In 2011, it was revealed that Schwarzenegger had an affair with his housemaid back in 1997 and fathered a son. This child is Joseph Baena, and he was still a kid when he was thrust into the spotlight. This revelation caused Schwarzenegger’s wife, Maria Shriver, to separate from him and their divorce was finalized in 2021. Read on to learn more about Baena’s career and his relationship with his father.

Ever since Baena came into Schwarzenegger’s life, he has done his best to be a good father and it seems like they have built a wonderful relationship. The pair bond over a love for working out and bodybuilding. On his Instagram, Baena posted a photo of him and his dad together at the gym. The caption said:
“This selfie was taken moments before my dad suggested I do ‘forced reps’ for the rest of the workout. You have to go all out and absolutely NO cheating when you train with him, so you know I’m going to be hurting tomorrow. Overloading on the rows, bench press, pull-downs, etc... Thankfully, my studly training partner helped me get every last rep. This is another great approach to training and a fantastic way to build size and strength! Try it out with your training partner.”
The loving father also supports his son’s education. After Baena graduated from Pepperdine University in 2019 with a degree in business, Schwarzenegger posted this celebratory message on social media: “Congratulations Joseph! Four years of hard work studying business at Pepperdine and today is your big day! You have earned all of the celebrations and I’m so proud of you. I love you!”
The dad also takes time to post on Instagram for all of his children’s birthdays. For Baena’s birthday in October 2021, Schwarzenegger wrote: “Happy birthday @projoe2! I am so proud of you and I love you! You are crushing it in the gym, in your real estate career, and in acting. I know this will be another fantastic year.”

Baena decided to use his business degree and began a career, which he calls a “side hustle,” as a realtor in May 2021. The 24-year-old also spends much of his time pursuing acting jobs like his father. Baena wrote on Instagram:
“Not your average realtor! Super excited to start a new career in residential real estate. Looking forward to growing and learning from my amazing team @aria_properties, but more so looking forward to putting you guys in a new home! I’ll be primarily based in West LA and Silicon Beach, so if you’re buying, selling or need help shoot me a DM. Your support means the world, tag someone who needs a home.”
With a dad as successful as Schwarzenegger, it seems all Baena would have to do is drop his name to get offered roles. But he decided not to use his father’s last name. “Well I already have a last name, and I don’t have a problem with my last name. I like my last name,” Baena said to Inside Edition.
Baena added that even though he chose to follow his father’s path as an actor, he draws inspiration from both of his parents. The young man shared:
“My mom is one of my main motivators, and seeing her and how she works so hard, I want to make her proud. Same with my father. What he made of himself from nothing. I mean, both of my parents are immigrants that kind of created something out of nothing. So, seeing them, it’s been a huge inspiration, and I want to make them proud. I want to make myself proud.”
