Arnold Schwarzenegger's Son Patrick Looks Like His Dad's Identical Twin

Arnold Schwarzenegger has conquered the world of acting, politics, business and bodybuilding, and has somehow managed to start a beautiful family amongst all of that. While he was born and raised in Austria, he currently lives in the United States and has raised his children there. Schwarzenegger himself grew up in a pretty strict household, but imagine what it’s like to have “The Terminator” as your father. For his four children with ex-wife Maria Shriver, this was a reality.

Schwarzenegger has lived a pretty public life since he has been in competitions or on the big screen for most of it. He even has his own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Shriver herself has gotten used to fame, having a popular family tree to live up to. She’s made her own career choices while staying true to the family name. Their children benefited from the success of their parents. The couple helped the lot start their own careers and follow their dreams from a young age. They may not have reached their father’s level of success yet, but are surely on their way, especially middle child, Patrick. 

Patrick has grown to follow in his father’s footsteps, finding his way to making acting a permanent career while still trying to have a somewhat normal and private life. He’s already starred in a handful of projects, and has showcased his beauty through his newfound love of modeling. Schwarzenegger should be proud of the young man his son has grown to be, carrying on his legacy.

Schwarzenegger was born on July 30, 1947 in Austria. He is most known for being an actor, businessman, former politician and retired bodybuilder. He has even written a handful of books and articles about the subject of bodybuilding due to having such extensive knowledge on the topic. His love for sports in general stemmed from his father, Gustav. 

Gustav himself was an athlete and influenced his son to play several sports, including soccer. Schwarzenegger began weight training when he was 13-years-old when his soccer coach took the team to a local gym. By the time he was 14-years-old, Schwarzenegger had decided he wanted to be a professional bodybuilder one day. He kept up his psychique and began training to make his dreams become a reality.

Schwarzenegger began entering bodybuilding competitions. He served in the Austrian Army in 1965 since it was required for all 18-year-old Austrian men to do so. He won the Junior Mr. Europe competition while serving, skipping basic training to compete in the contest.

A year later, the bodybuilder flew to London, England to compete in the NABBA Mr. Universe competition, finishing in second place. One of the judges of the competition thought Schwarzenegger had potential and offered to coach him, which the former accepted. Schwarzenegger ended up living with his coach in the family home directly above a gym. It was the perfect location for an aspiring professional bodybuilder, since he was able to work out and practice whenever he wanted to. Along with this, Schwarzenegger was able to build on his skills understanding and speaking the English language due to living in London.

All of his hard work paid off when he became the youngest winner of the Mr. Universe competition in 1967. Schwarzenegger was only 20-years-old. This gave him the drive he needed to finally make the move to the United States in October 1968 to pursue bodybuilding as a full-time career. Once there, he trained with another coach in Venice, California, accomplishing yet another feat when he won Mr. Olympia for the first time in 1970. He legendarily won the contest six more times throughout his bodybuilding career.

Schwarzenegger’s status as a bodybuilder skyrocketed. His name became so well known that it was used for a new sporting event established in 1989. The Arnold Sports Festival, properly named after the athlete, is an annual multi-sport event consisting of professional bodybuilding, fitness, figure and bikini competitions over a weekend expo. The event is usually held in late February or early March in Columbus, Ohio, in the United States, hosted by the International Federation of Bodybuilding and Fitness.

After completing conquering the fitness world, Schwarzenegger changed directions and switched up his career aspirations. He entered the entertainment industry as an actor after landing his first role in the 1970 film “Hercules in New York.” Although he played the title role, his own voice wasn’t heard as it had to be dubbed over due to his thick accent. He was nominated for and won his first Golden Globe Award for New Star of the Year: Actor for his part in the 1976 film “Stay Hungry.”

Even though he was busy creating an acting career, Schwarzenegger found time to attend and graduate from the University of Wisconsin-Superior with a bachelor’s degree in business administration and marketing in 1980. This degree helped Schwarzenegger start his empire, leading to capitalization on his love for bodybuilding through books and events.

The new actor’s breakthrough came from the movie “Conan the Barbarian” in 1982. He landed the job of a lifetime with the leading role in “Terminator.” The first of the franchise directed by James Cameron was released in 1984, followed by a plethora of movies to further advance the series. Schwarzenegger jumped from one box-office success to the next when he starred in “Predator” in 1987. The actor continued to land successful roles and became a prominent figure in the world of action movies.

Schwarzenegger was granted dual citizenship of both Austria and the United States in September 1983. This made him an American citizen, meaning he was eligible to run for political positions in the country. The star took a break from acting when he ran for governor of the state of California. He won the election and served in office from November 2003 to January 2011.

Schwarzenegger returned to acting after he left office as governor, and began reading scripts and auditioning for roles. He got back to work quickly, landing roles easily in a number of movies and television series. His voice was even used for some video games, including “Terminator 2: The Arcade Game” in 1991 and “Family Guy: The Quest for Stuff” in 2014. Schwarzenegger made his return to his most acclaimed franchise in November 2019 with the release of “Terminator: Dark Fate.”

Schwarzenegger’s degree found new life when he ventured into reality television. The actor-turned-business mogul replaced Donald Trump as the host of the show “The Apprentice.” The celebrity version of the show was revived with the title of the show switching to “The New Celebrity Apprentice,” airing in 2017. The show follows celebrities using their fame, status and knowledge of the industry to work in a business setting, creating campaigns and other business ventures along the way. The celebrities do their best to win money to donate to their respective charity organizations, as well as take their personal careers to the next level.

Each week, at least one contestant is eliminated from the competition. Trump’s famous catchphrase during his time as host was “you’re fired.” Schwarzenegger put his own spin on this, telling contestants either “you’re terminated” or “get the choppa,” references from his hit movies “The Terminator” and “Predator.” The show didn’t receive the best reviews, resulting in Schwarzenegger choosing to not return.

Throughout the journey of his many career paths, Schwarzenegger found the time to settle down and start a family. He met Shriver in August 1977, and the two began dating shortly after. He married the journalist in 1989 in Hyannis, Massachusetts. Together, the couple had four beautiful children, Katherina, Christina, Patrick and Christopher. All of their kids were born in Los Angeles, California, receiving dual Austrian-American citizenship thanks to their natural-born status and their father’s. 

Unfortunately, complications arose with Schwarzenegger’s and Shriver’s marriage, leading the couple to file for separation in 2011. After a lengthy process, their divorce was finalized in 2017.

Shriver was used to the spotlight well before knowing Schwarzenegger. She is the niece of former United States President John. F. Kennedy. This means all her children are members of the Kennedy family tree, giving them a big name to live up to. Shriver was born on November 6, 1955, in Chicago, Illinois. She has done a lot with her lifetime so far, including becoming a journalist, author and founder of the nonprofit organization The Women’s Alzheimer’s Movement. 

She has worked hard for special causes and bringing awareness to subjects important to her. Shriver was a member of the International Board of Special Olympics and dedicated a letter to her mother, Eunice Kennedy Shriver, who founded the organization. She also launched “The Shriver Report: A Woman’s Nation Changes Everything” in October 2009. It was a national study and comprehensive report that talked about women in the workforce. The study dived deep into the topic, finding that women make up half of the workforce and because of that are impacting major institutions and industries, especially the business world. The study was done in partnership with the Center for American Progress, the Rockefeller Foundation and the University of Southern California’s Annenberg Center on Communication, Leadership and Policy.

Shriver worked for NBC News until she was inducted as First Lady of California after Schwarzenegger won the election. She was relieved of her duties as a journalist due to conflict of interest. She returned to the network in 2013, two years after her then-husband left office. As of April 2021, Shriver is still working as an anchor and news correspondent.

One of Schwarzenegger’s and Shriver’s children has already made a name for himself. Patrick was born September 18, 1993. While he has classified himself as an investor and entrepreneur on his Instagram, he is currently known for being a model and an actor. Patrick has been signed with IMG Models, helping him land photoshoots, campaigns and even star on the cover of Icon magazine.

He graduated from the University of Southern California Marshall School of Business in 2016 with a minor in cinematic arts, connecting his love for business with the entertainment industry. He made a big investment when he franchised his own Blaze Pizza in Los Angeles in 2020. According to People, Patrick learned how to be a good businessman from his father. “I’ve always been into [an] entrepreneurial lifestyle,” Patrick said. “[My dad] encouraged me and so does the rest of my family with everything I do.”

Schwarzenegger not only encouraged his son to become a businessman, but also gave him the acting gene. Patrick practiced acting with his father at an early age, and took acting lessons as a teenager. 

During an interview on “Live with Kelly and Ryan in March 2018,” Patrick talked about how much he loved going to set with his father and being introduced to the acting world. He explained how he would be rewarded for doing well in school by being taken to watch his dad work. “For a kid, it’s like a dream come true,” Patrick said about getting to visit the Universal Studios lot frequently.

Patrick made his dream of becoming an actor a reality and booked a few supporting roles in movies and television shows. Patrick also starred in a Romeo and Juliet themed music video for the song “Right There” by Ariana Grande and Big Sean. His first leading role was in 2018 when he starred opposite Bella Thorne in “Midnight Sun.” 

Patrick reflected more on what really pushed him into trying out the career during an interview with Jimmy Kimmel in March 2021. He talked about how watching “Hercules in New York,” one of Schwarzenegger’s first films, was when it clicked for him. “I was sitting there and he was so bad and he was awful,” Patrick said about his father’s acting skills. Surprised by how successful turned out despite how badly he started, Patrick found the confidence to try the career out. “I’m giving acting a shot,” he said.

While not much about Patrick’s personal life has been revealed, the star was linked to singer and actress Miley Cyrus for a short time. The pair dated for a quick five months before calling it quits in 2015. According to People, the break-up was amicable.

Despite growing up with two well-known parents, Patrick has kept his private life pretty underwraps. He hasn’t peaked professionally yet, but has begun to make a name for himself in the acting, modeling and even business world. With the love and support of his family, especially his father, Patrick is bound to keep skyrocketing to the top of any industry he wants to conquer.
