Aretha Franklin: Buckingham Palace Plays 'Respect' In Late Music Icon's Honor

People worldwide have gathered to mourn the death and honor the life of Aretha Franklin after she passed away on August 16 from pancreatic cancer. Among some of the cities to show homage to her, Buckingham Palace in London paid respect to the late music icon on August 31. 

Aretha Franklin's influence reached far and will continue to stretch worldwide. Her death is a sad occasion for many, including those in London. The military band played one of her most popular songs, "Respect" during the Changing of the Guard at Buckingham Palace.

They said she was a "huge influence and inspiration to our musicians."

The band decided to play the same day as her funeral, which was held in Detroit. Many people attended the performance in London and rejoiced at the memories of the artist. It wasn't just a time of sadness; it was also a time for remembrance for Franklin's amazing life.

In Detroit, performers such as Ariana Grande, Jennifer Hudson, and more attended and performed at her funeral. Visitors from across the world had the opportunity to pay their respects by visiting her coffin.
