Are Cookie Dough Easter Eggs The New Cadbury Eggs?

Mar 29, 2018 by apost team

Who can resist throwing a few Cadbury easter eggs in with their groceries when going through the checkout line? I know we can’t! Those tiny gooey eggs of wonderfulness are one of the most popular (and anticipated) candies for Easter, but a new egg creation is looking to dethrone the popular creme egg.

No, it’s not Reese’s eggs, even though they’re also a cult favorite. Think richer, less creamy, homemade, and absolutely satisfying…

YouTube food channel Delish came up with an Easter treat recipe that will not only impress your family, but make them addicted for more. The “Cookie Dough Egg” is an egg-shaped candy with a thick, safe-to-eat chocolate chip cookie dough filling. The egg is decorated with pastel colors and fun designs, but if you decide to make them yourself, your eggs can look however you want!

That sure beats the traditional - yet basic - brown chocolate coating of Cadbury and Reese’s eggs. Cookie dough eggs will look beautiful on a table or as gifts.

The edible cookie dough filling is made with crushed graham crackers instead of eggs, and the whole milk and mini chocolate chips can we swapped out for soy and dark varieties to make these treats vegan. No matter how you spin it though, these little eggs are sure to be your top indulgence for the day.

Though cookie dough eggs haven’t made it into grocery stores (yet!) the recipe is very easy to follow and may be a fun activity for the family to do the night before Easter. Everyone can get creative with decorating, you’ll just have to make sure you don’t eat them all immediately!

If you want to give this fun recipe a try, then watch this video to see how easy they are to make! The ingredients will be listed below.

You’ll need:

3/4 c. peanut butter
3/4 c. brown sugar

1/4 tsp. kosher salt
3 tbsp. whole milk
