Archie Is Prince Harry's Mini-Me In New TV Appearance

Prince Harry's wife, Meghan Markle, has preferred to keep her personal life out of the tabloids ever since she and Harry left their royal duties behind for a life in the United States. However, since their controversial exit from the royal family, they have found themselves surrounded by a lot of attention — much of which has not been positive. Nevertheless, ardent fans of Meghan and Harry have continued to lend their support to the couple.

Meghan and Harry have had an incredibly eventful year. This summer alone has been huge for the couple with the birth of their daughter, Lilibet Diana Mountbatten-Windsor, on June 4, kicking things off. Named in honor of both her great-grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, and Harry's late mother, Princess Diana, Lilibet's birth propelled the couple back into the press after a few months of laying low after their bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey in March.

Then, mere days after giving birth to their daughter, the Duchess of Sussex released her very first children's book titled "The Bench." The story began as a poem that Markle wrote to Harry one Father's Day before it was turned into a book with illustrations by Christian Robinson. To top the year off, Harry and Meghan graced one of the seven covers of TIME Magazine after they made it to the list of Most Influential People.

Now, Meghan has surprised her fans by taking part in an interview with Ellen Degeneres. A sneak peek was released on Nov. 17, 2021, and the episode aired on Nov. 18. On the show, she opened up about her life, both past and present, while also revealing a never-before-seen photo of 2-year-old Archie tending to the family’s chickens.

The photo shows the boy holding a basket — likely to collect eggs — as he looks down at his family’s flock of chickens. With his fiery red hair, the 2-year-old is looking even more like his father, though the young boy seems to have a style of his own. In the photo, he’s sporting some adorable yellow Wellington boots that feature Peppa Pig, jeans and a blue sweater. According to People, royal fans first got a glimpse of the family’s chicken coop on “Oprah with Meghan and Harry,” the controversial interview that took place in March.

"He's so sweet with the chickens, too," Ellen said.

"Aww, thank you,” Meghan replied.

People reported that Meghan also reminisced with Ellen about going on auditions at the same Warner Bros. lot when she worked as an actress before she met Harry, which Ellen addressed and said, “You said the last talk show you did was like, I don’t know, another decade ago, but you used to come to this lot to audition all the time." Meghan responded, "Oh my gosh, completely!"

"The security guards would always say, 'Break a leg! We hope you get it!' So the drive in today was very different," Meghan revealed to Ellen, who is also her neighbor in Montecito, California. When Ellen asked Meghan if the security guards recognized her, Meghan responded, "I think they probably said it to everybody. That's how nice they were."

Meghan also spoke about her humble beginnings and opened up about her old car, an old Ford Explorer Sport with "a life of its own."

"I would park in the back of the parking lot and open the trunk, then climb in and pull it shut behind me and crawl over all my seats to get out," the former actress said with a laugh. "That's how I would come to and fro." She also added that if anyone caught her doing this, she would play it off by saying she was looking for something in her trunk.

The sneak peek released on Nov. 17 was a short clip, but it certainly had fans buzzing about the Ellen episode, especially because this is the first time that Meghan has appeared on a talk show since becoming royal. Meghan and Harry's last interview was in March 2021 with Oprah Winfrey, which was met with both applause and criticism.

Appraisals of Thursday’s episode were mixed. In a review from The Telegraph, Ed Power called the interview “cheesy and plastic,” noting the stark contrast between Meghan’s appearance on Oprah in March and her cheeriness on Ellen.

“Meghan often struggled to hold back tears talking to Oprah. Seated across from Ellen, she couldn't stop smiling. Amongst an adoring audience (all wearing masks) she radiated California positivity. And this interview felt like the sort that could only take place in a land of endless optimism and boundless sunshine,” Power wrote. “It was as bright as a Hollywood smile — and probably as fake as one too. But Meghan clearly had a hoot.”

That said, not everyone was critical of her appearance.

“That was a good interview,” Nelda Gouger, a fan, commented on the below video, adding that Meghan looks “happy” and “relaxed.”
