Archie and Lilibet Share a Private Royal Reunion With King Charles

A private meeting at Highgrove House brought King Charles III together with Prince Harry, Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet. Buckingham Palace confirmed that the family gathered at the King and Queen Camilla’s Gloucestershire residence on July 10, 2026. No photographs or details of the conversation were released, preserving the occasion as a personal family event rather than a public royal engagement.

For Archie and Lilibet, the visit marked their first known in-person meeting with their grandfather since June 2022. Archie was born on May 6, 2019, while Lilibet was born on June 4, 2021. The children are being raised in California, where Harry and Meghan established their home after stepping back as working members of the Royal Family in 2020. The Royal Family’s official website confirms that the couple have two children and withdrew as working royals in 2020.

Their previous visit to Britain coincided with Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations. Although the children did not take part in the major public events, the trip gave the then-Prince Charles an opportunity to see Archie and meet Lilibet in person for the first time.

The Highgrove gathering carried particular significance because physical distance, security disputes and strained family relationships have limited private contact between the Sussexes and other senior royals. With no cameras present and no official account of what was discussed, the meeting’s importance rests less on ceremony than on the simple fact that three generations were able to spend time together.

The absence of an official photograph also distinguished the reunion from the carefully documented appearances normally associated with the monarchy. Its deliberately low profile kept attention on the family connection itself.

Harry’s journey to Britain also included engagements connected with the Invictus Games Birmingham 2027. The competition, founded by the Duke of Sussex for wounded, injured and sick service personnel and veterans, is scheduled for July 10–17, 2027. The Games use sport to support recovery, rehabilitation and a continuing sense of community among participants.

The family visit followed another private meeting between Harry and Charles at Clarence House in September 2025. That encounter, described by Buckingham Palace as a private tea, was the first face-to-face meeting between father and son in more than a year. It provided a cautious sign of renewed personal contact after years of public tension.

Harry and Meghan formally stepped back as working royals in 2020. Their subsequent interviews, documentary series and Harry’s memoir, Spare, placed their disagreements with the institution and members of the family under intense public scrutiny. Even so, Harry has spoken publicly about wanting reconciliation, while the King’s meetings with his younger son indicate that private communication has not ended.

No meeting between Harry and Prince William was announced in connection with the Highgrove visit. That absence leaves questions about the brothers’ relationship unanswered, but it does not diminish the importance of Charles seeing Archie and Lilibet.

For the children, the gathering offered a rare link to their British family and heritage. For the adults, it created space for contact away from speeches, cameras and ceremonial expectations. Whether it leads to a broader reconciliation remains unknown, but the meeting represented a meaningful family moment shaped by privacy rather than public performance.

Highgrove, long associated with Charles’s private life and environmental interests, offered a quieter setting than a London palace. That setting reinforced the sense that the occasion concerned family ties rather than constitutional duties or royal business.
