Anonymous Person Is Reportedly Sticking Minature Cowboy Hats On Pigeons In Las Vegas

News outlets everywhere are interested and surprised by the latest fashion trend for pigeons. Apparently, pigeons in Las Vegas have started wearing tiny cowboy hats.

Videos of these pigeons started appearing on social media, and news stations immediately started sharing the story: Pigeons are flying through town wearing miniature cowboy hats. At least two of the birds have been recorded on video, and no one seems to know how the hats got there.

At first, for a few seconds, it sounds adorable. Tiny hats on tiny heads! Are the pigeons cowboys or ranchers? Do they sing and dance? How many of them are there? Will they complete their outfits with vests and boots?

But when you think about it, you have to wonder: Who started this, and why? And how are the hats staying on the birds' tiny heads? The people who've seen the hats up close have said that there seem to be feathers stuck to the hats. So it's likely that someone has glued the hats to the birds, reports The Guardian.

This can't be good for the pigeons, and it raises questions about whether they will be able to fly safely, eat normally, and escape safely from predators. Animal rescuers are concerned and are taking action to help these tiny cowboys to get back to their happy, carefree, hat-less days.

Lofty Hopes, a pigeon rescue in Las Vegas, has been making attempts to safely trap the birds so that they can be examined and assisted. Las Vegas is on the lookout for these little cowboy-birds, ready to partner with Lofty Hopes to get the pigeons some help.

In general, most people want their animals to be cute. For regular pet owners, that means a doggie sweater when the weather is cold. Or maybe it's a once-a-year Halloween costume that kitty wears for 5 minutes before escaping the dress-up game. But responsible people know that it's not fair to make an animal "cute" at the expense of its safety, health, or happiness.

So, whatever's going on with these pigeons, they clearly need a little help. So, "hats off" to the animal rescue organizations who are setting out to give these little cowboy pigeons a hand!
