In Independence, Missouri at a local restaurant known as Back Yard Burgers an anonymous donor picked up the tab this past September 11th for all first responders who walked in to grab a bite to eat. The manager had received the donation from an unnamed man who wanted to feed every first responder in honor of their bravery and the sacrifices that were made on 9/11.

“Instantly it kind of hit me right in the heart because he said he had to rearrange his finances in order to do it,” the manager told Fox 4 News Kansas City. However it was the specific dollar amount that the anonymous man gave him which brought the manager of Back Yard Burgers to tears. “He reaches in his pocket and he hands me $911 in cash,” he said.

One of the first responders who was able to get a meal at the burger joint on the house told Fox 4 News Kansas City, “It just takes you back to this day and what this day means and remembering everything that happened.”

The restaurant has a wall dedicated to firefighters and other first responders they created after the events of 9/11.“They risk their lives for us and we have to understand that that’s the most important thing they can do,” the manager said.

“After 9/11 this many years later that they still think about us like this it really shows their support for us and how much we mean to them and we really appreciate that,” another first responder to visited the restaurant said to the news station.
