Anne Buydens Celebrates 100th Birthday, Hand In Hand With Her Husband Kirk Douglas, 102

Kirk Douglas is known all over the world for his successful career as a director, producer, and author. His films have accompanied and delighted lots of us since our childhood.

Not only has the 102-year-old been awarded the Oscar for Lifetime Achievement as well as the Presidential Medal of Freedom, but he also has been happily married for 64 years to the love of his life, which might be his biggest achievement of all time!

In all these years they spend together, Douglas and his wife Anne Buydens faced and overcame many trials but their love doesn't seem to have faded in the least!

Anne Buydens was actually born and raised in Germany before her family decided to move to Belgium when she was in her teens. As a young woman, Anne chose to work in Paris to start her career as a film publicist. And there in the city of love, Anne met Kirk Douglas when she was 34 years old. A photographer friend introduced her to a charming young man at the set of the movie 'Act of Love'. Little did she know that she had just met the man who was destined to become her husband.

Even though Kirk was already famous at the time and could have dated any women he wanted, he was head over heels for Anne and was amazed by her wonderful aura. But when he wanted got on a date with Anne, she didn't make it easy for him and actually rejected him the first time he asked her out. Douglas actually told USA Today: "She was the most difficult woman I ever met!"

Douglas hadn't expected Anne's rejection and at first, he was annoyed with it. But he eventually hired her as a publicist. During their time working together, they ended up becoming friends. Speaking with USA Today Kirk admits: "With no romance in the picture, I stopped trying to impress Anne. I stopped talking about myself and began to listen to her".

It was in May 1954 when the two finally got married. Soon Douglas and Buyden became parents, their 2 sons are called Peter and Eric. In his previous marriage with Diana Douglas, Kirk Douglas already had two other sons, Michael and Joel.

Over the years, Anne became more and more successful as a notable philanthropist, art collector, and producer. Furthermore, Anne has been on the Vanity Fair’s International Best Dressed list for almost 50 years now!

On Tuesday, April 23, Anne celebrated her 100th birthday and nobody was surprised to see her looking as stunning as ever.

Of course, her husband Kirk Douglas who had turned 102 only four months before on December 9, 2018, was by her side to celebrate that special day with her! Holding hands, the two posed for some pictures together, sitting side by side in their wheelchairs.
