Anna Wintour, Editor Of Vogue Magazine Dodged Questions About Melania Trump's Style To Gush Over Michelle Obama Instead

In an interview with The Economist, Vogue Magazine fashion editor, Anna Wintour shaded First Lady Melania Trump when asked about her style. Wintour instead decided to dodge the question and speak about former first lady Michelle Obama's impeccable fashion sense.

The 69-year-old fashion icon appeared on The Economist podcast this past week to discuss presidential fashion. “I think it’s important for Vogue to support women who are leading change in this country,” Wintour started off the discussion. The interviewer switched over to ask about Wintour’s opinion on the trumps beginning with, “I’m interested, in looking there is something so visual about the Trumps his sort of ill-fitting suits and the strange trousers and red baseball cap... almost deliberately off-trend.”

The interviewer then changed gears to compare Donald Trump’s wife contending, “Melania put together in a much more put together way. She did come to the UK and I think very consciously wanted to see herself as an ambassador for British fashion in this case or transatlantic ambassador, I mean, do you value that?”

Instead of answering the question about Melania Trump’s fashion style, Wintour took the opportunity to talk about former First Lady, Michelle Obama. “Well, I think First Lady Michelle Obama really was so incredible in every decision she made about fashion, she supported young American designers she supported designer, indeed form all over the world,” the style mogul said.

The interviewer interrupted Wintour to ask again about Melania’s fashion, “But what about the first lady you have now?” Again Wintour did not budge and instead continued with her praise of Michelle, “She(Obama) was the best ambassador that this country could possibly have in many ways obviously beyond fashion. To me, she is the example that I admire,” Wintour said. 

The interviewer tried one more time to get Wintour to comment on the Trumps which Wintour finally gave in to. “Would you give Donald trump fashion advice if he called?” the interviewer asked. “ I think he’s unlikely to call,” Wintour wryly replied.
