Animal Rescuers Save Tiny Kitten Trapped Between Cement Walls

There are heroes that operate in our world every day, but they are rarely given the credit that they deserve. Though in this case, on June 3rd, a group of animal rescuers has become internet stars after saving a kitten from a hole in the wall.

The video begins with a group of animal rescuers wandering down a dilapidated alley. Everything looks gray and crumbling. You can see what appears to be Quikrete over chicken wire to make an impromptu wall. The scenery appears bleak. The crew is following the mewls of a kitten, although it cannot be seen.

Once the camera turns to the left, the sounds of desperate meowing become lounder. Peering through a nearby crack in the wall, one can see a little ball of fur with eyes stuck shut, crying out for help.

How did the kitten get stuck in there? Did it find its way into the crevice on its own, or could it have been a cruel act by a human being? Regardless, the LA animal services are on the case to save the petite fur baby!

SMART member Gaby Lera takes a hammer and chisel to the nearby wall. She avoids the bricks and mortar and aims for an area that is easier to chip away. Bit by bit, the woman attempts to make a space large enough for the little kitten to be accessed, reports the Daily Mail. The kitten seemed much quieter while the team was chipping away. It must have been so scared by all of the sharp noises and jarring vibrations!

Reaching into the hole she made, Gaby feels around for the kitten. Instead of biting or scratching at her, the kitten remains frozen; it wouldn’t be able to see her anyway. Grasping the kitten by the scruff of its neck, the rescuer finally lifts it from the concrete prison to freedom!

The little cat is given some food to eat, and it happily wolfs it down. A small white towel is placed on the kitten to keep it warm while it rests in a crate in the back of the rescuers’ van. Thankfully, the heartwarming scene was caught on film by the organization, and it has gone viral online! Hopefully, this will inspire more people to help out their local shelters.

According to the Daily Mail, a spokesman from SMART, Armando Navarrete, said that it took only about 30 minutes for the team to chisel a hole large enough to finally reach in and rescue the kitten. The kitten was just fine, though it had plenty of crust around its eyes that prevented it from opening them. After some gentle care, the kitty was able to crack open its peepers to look at its rescuers. It was so grateful and happy that it began to purr right away!

Every cat deserves to have a warm bed, meals that are nutritious, and a happy life in general. Unconditional love is so important, especially for so trusting and loving an animal. Cats truly deserve to roam free to make the world a better place. These are the wishes of the LA Animal Rescue team, and the wishes of rescue teams and shelters all over the United States. Animals have feelings just like humans do, and they need the same love and care in order to function properly.

We hope that this little fur baby finds a home one day with someone special, a home that isn’t a scary crack in a concrete alley wall! Have you or your friends ever run across an animal in need? What did you all do about it? We want to hear about your own animal rescue stories!
