Animal Rescuer Shows Kindness To Frightened Shelter Dog That Was To Be Put To Sleep And Calms Her Down

Edie was a small, fuzzy dog one hour from being euthanized at a shelter when an unexpected guest gave her a reprieve. The little dog was scared, clearly from a life of abuse when a kind person at the shelter called a rescuer to evaluate Edie. This video from 2010 shows just what love and affection can do for a frightened dog.

A few hours before dog Edie was scheduled to be put to sleep, Eldad Hagar of Hope For Paws came to her rescue. He had been called by his friend Bronwyne Mirkovich who said the little dog was very scared but wanted her checked to see if she really was an unsolvable case. Even though the shelter had labeled her as "too aggressive", Bronwyne felt she could be adopted.

Edie didn't know what to think about Eldad when she saw him. Her demeanor of fear soon showed but Eldad demonstrated his capability for handling a terrified animal.

Eldad knew it would take a soft hand, and he provided just that. Even with Edie barking and yelping in terror, he was able to calm her enough to bring her out of the corner and immediately into his lap for some love and attention. It was then that Edie's entire attitude changed, realizing she was in the hands of someone who could care for her, and she needn't fear.

Edie realized that this man wanted to be friends. She started playing and barking. She even let Eldad pet her belly. Following that, she seemed to be an entirely new dog. They even groomed her to prepare her for potential adoption.

According to The Animal Rescue Site, Edie is one dog who now has a home. She was rescued only a few hours before she was to be put down but was adopted within a week!
