Angered Mother Says Teen With Tourette’s Syndrome Was Kicked Out Of ‘Avengers’

Emily received a big surprise from her parents recently after returning home from school. The three of them were attending the Avengers: Endgame opening night.

Emily is not unlike most American teenagers and is absolutely crazy about Marvel movies. She was thrilled to watch how the saga would end.

Emily suffers from Tourette's Syndrome. The variety of tics she exhibits includes grunts and squawks.

Emily is sometimes able to control her tics but there are other times when they will take place suddenly and without warning.

Emily did her best to allow the tics to run their course before the movie previews began. She knew the policy of the movie theater was to not allow noise that disrupts the viewing experience of other viewers.

Just before the movie began, a manager working for the theater tapped Emily's mom on the shoulder. Tina was asked by the manager to walk into the hallway.

The manager told Tina she had already received nine complaints about the noises her daughter made.

Tina explained the situation to the manager and told her that Emily would do her best to control the tics. She told the manager Emily would have an easier time once the movie started.

The manager, along with another staff member, felt it would be best for Tina and her family to exit the theater. Tina was ready to fiercely defend her daughter and refused to leave.

The stress of the confrontation caused Emily to become more nervous. This increased both the frequency and intensity of her tics.

The disappointed young girl asked her mother if they could leave.

Tina observed the pain on her daughter's face and reluctantly agreed to leave the theater.

Do you think the manager was out of line for asking Emily and her family to leave the theater? Can you think of a solution that would have allowed Emily to enjoy the movie without disturbing others? Pass this on to everyone on your friend list to see what they think.
