Red carpet events are the most speculated and talked-about celebrations in Hollywood culture. They’re loud, bright, and exuberant, filled with photographers and stars. It’s a non-stop party reveling in the completion of months, sometimes even years, of hard work and dedication.

As such, there’s always some form of shenanigans happening on the red carpet. However, you don’t usually see the Haka, a traditional Maori ceremonial ‘dance’, being done.

This is exactly what Jason Momoa did at the premiere of Aquaman, held in Los Angeles December 12th. He led co-stars, crew, and even his children, in the ‘dance’ performance.

Momoa, of Game of Thrones fame (Khal Drogo to be exact), has quickly become a fan-favorite. His charm and appealing nature draw in the fans.

Together with his two children, and joined by New Zealand’s Temuera Morrison - Aquaman’s father in the film - and a group of cast mates, he performed the Haka. This culminated with him breaking the Golden Trident over his knee. Quite a show!

Most already know that Momoa is Hawaiian. The Hawaiian version, taking its lead from the New Zealand Haka, it’s grown in popularity in Hawaiian culture recently. It combines movements from the hula and cultural aspects of Hawaiian natives says The Culture Trip.

Though already a record-breaking film in China, with an astounding $25 million opening day, Aquaman swims into theaters everywhere December 14th. The reviews of the film so far are staggering, even going as far as saying Aquaman is the best DCEU film since The Dark Knight.

James Wan took the saying “Go big, or go home.” to heart. His underwater world is a fantastical adventure, eye-catching, bigger and more elaborate than any other DCEU film before.

A quick synopsis, for anyone that has been under a rock and not seen the trailer, has Arthur Curry (Momoa) headed into dangerous territory to seek out his past and the magical trident that grants the holder dominion over the seven seas.

Amber Heard, Willem Dafoe, Dolph Lundgren, and Yahya Abdul Mateen II all lend their prowess to the film as well.
